Oh, boo-hoo. Gimme, gimme, gimme.
This is what about $1,000 per DAY gets you; a 1995 BBS running on Windows ME. How many more millions needed before posts can be edited?

I'm very sorry (again), but our recurring response time nightmare is back (again).

The good news, though, is John has finally checked in. He's been out of town a lot in the last couple weeks dealing with some urgent family issues regarding his other half's adopted child. Praying that works out soon. He also says his phone needs to be replaced and has not had time to get it done.

The bad news is, he has not been able to resolve our server issue yet. He suspects it's some kind of intermittent error in our network switch or router and wants to replace our front-end hardware but has not had time to purchase the new equipment or get back up to San Joose to install it. Hopefully, soon.

You could knock me over with a feather.

C'mon, just send them a check. Mail it in.

Bail out of Jim Robinson's Freepathon and join Liberty's Flame! No supercilious, snide moderators here.

Liberals are like Slinkys. They're good for nothing, but somehow they bring a smile to your face as you shove them down the stairs.

I REALLY resent how this family used "urgent family matters" this time, mentioned an "adopted child," then topped it all with the usual invocation of "prayer" as the cherry on the cake with which to back off legit complaints AND calculated to tug on the heart strings. These multi-level shields against angry PAYING customers is bad enough; guilt them further into accepting shoddy lies is dishonorable.

Freepers by and large have always been a loyal, compassionate bunch. But how far is too far? IS there that point for Freepers? At what point is this repeated con-job called out??

Kind and generous Freepers have accepted lie after lie with respect to a suppose "new server" was promised repeatedly but never delivered. If always something. AT FREEPATHON TIME. Don't like it the scam and financial/emotional blackmail? Leave! (yes, that's the actual default response, you "Freeploader". BUT WHAT OF THOSE WHO DO PAY REGULARLY?? Does THIS encore performance insult *their* intelligence and disrespect THEM? Isn't loyalty a two-way street?)

The timing at Freepathon Time is BEYOND suspicious; It's CALCULATED. That itself is wrong on so many levels. Such arrogance and years of lies keep on getting rewarded. Those who call it out for what it's been are predictably censored, ostracized, ridiculed, and disrespected for noticing the obvious occurs LIKE CLOCKWORK.

(Here a drone captures John @work, examining the Chinese $.29 cent doohickey before asking for additional prayers AND indirectly soliciting extra $$$$ in order to "once and for all git 'er goin'!")

This nonsense is waaay past the usual hamster wheel jokes, sabotage, and the same conspiracies The Great Oz and Bush Groupies used to ridicule, but now find most convenient.

What's OZ's excuse this time?? Flying monkeys? The DU? Mika and Joe?

Yeah, you cheap Commie Freeploaders!!....tear out another check. Gold and Bitcoin accepted as well, btw.

KEEP THE LIGHTS ON!! (or else we'll shut them off as a reminder.)

They are juuuust ONE check away from buying John Rob a time machine back to 1999 when FR's software OUT-PERFORMED the 2017 version of data-harvesting, resource-robbing FREE Chinese shareware.

That's the spirit!

C'mon, the Packard-Bell 486SX is staggering. And the scion of Clan Robinson is caught out of town with a failing CB radio.

The drama is almost too much.     : )

Of course, this is not a very satisfying narrative to get the rubes to mail in those Social Security checks. It sounds like JohnRob will return at some unspecified date well into the future to finally fix things. Maybe JimRob is just bored and toying with the peons.

I was wondering who'd be the first to comment on that heartstrings-yanking.
It's been comical for several years now, but the long-con grift rolls on anyway.

Picture the begging if this was an election night and it wasn't possible to pull 20 posts/page.

Is it time for JohnRob to have an amputation? Imagine how the checks would roll in.

Hopalong's running low on things to lop off, I think, but I'm sure he'd find something he hasn't used for a while.
I think the marks only got about 3 weeks in June with no begging this time, but there's no obvious sign that anybody's questioning the obvious scam either.

Heh-heh....easy to evoke "The Spirit" of contempt, ain't it? lol @ "failing CB radio." JR's basement is probably 1997 time capsule.

I'm not totally convince JR isn't actually still firing up the ol' Packard Bell 486SX as his primary PC. I can easily picture a train of other cobwebbed mid-1990s relics wired and duck-taped to one another down his basement, mountains of empty beer cans strewn all over the place along with tons of opened $$ and check envelopes, never discarded.

The Wiz of Id and the peasants -- THE perfect JR/FR metaphor.

Of course, this is not a very satisfying narrative to get the rubes to mail in those Social Security checks. It sounds like JohnRob will return at some unspecified date well into the future to finally fix things. Maybe JimRob is just bored and toying with the peons.

Picture a gme show wheel OR dart board with several excuses why FR is down. And evil laughter from both Jim and Jon echoing throughout his house from the basement.

He's been bored of playing King of Id.

Yeah, the drama is *almost* too much, BUT NOT QUITE for *us*.

It's so obvious, but even WE are conditioned to accept the inevitable: A VERY deep BS story.

JR is holding on the his ace in the hole: "Our sweet puppy named, 'FREEPER' (what else??) needs heart surgery. We are told it will be quite costly...."

It is a joke the way he goes about raising money. On the other hand I think he deserves a good income from the site, and said so in a "vanity" back in late '99. He was under fire from WaPo at the time and both he and Joe sort of "ulped" in reaction to my post. Nevertheless, I made the case then, and still hold with it, that he pioneered some good software and rallied a lot of people to get Clinton impeached, and to a lesser extent to conservatism.

I agreed with his politics to a large extent until his sudden about face to party politics, and later when he began to beat the war drums we diverged substantially. Because we disagree doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve a good income from his efforts, and since he doesn't take advertising, he does fundraising. That isn't the joke. The joke is that John does a crap job maintaining software and system. (And I will take credit for many of the early improvements, which I suggested to JR in '98 and '99. Some of you may recall that I did the "Other than Whitewater Index"). The income would probably be higher if they kept the place up.

Anyway, so I decided to go take a look and was surprised to see "The Christian Genocide in Syria" posted. It only has 12 comments, but it didn't get yanked. I doubt that he got rid of the Jews who surrounded him and began to cut out his old friends (MAF was a disgusting sycophant to me when she thought I was close to JR, then I didn't exist after I refused to join the FAB). Who knows, he may have had an epiphany that the NeoCons were destroying the country. Or this post just slipped through the cracks.

Response time seems to be back to normal (for now). Prayers up.

Several times in the past few days, I’ve been unable to access FR and also unable to access Facebook FR, to find out what’s going on. Facebook says that the page is unavailable—down, or “removed.”

This stuff has a habit of happening during Freepathons.

I smell a zot in that brave guy's future.

The sheeple are once again asking "Could it be ....... A Cyberattack!!!!! Ohnoes!!!!!" instead of remarking "Your server is a piece of shit after millions of dollars, Jimbo."

And for well over a year now, the sheeple only get about 3 weeks between Griftathons, so the begging is almost continuous. Almost a thousand bucks a day.....

BTW, please let John know that for some period during the slowness today, the DNS server responsible for freerepublic.com seemed to go non-responsive for bits of time and was un-pingable/dropping packets also. DNS Lookups on FR's DNS Server seemed to lag pretty badly.

From here I can't tell if that's the DNS Server itself, or something else like a router or switch in front of it. I don't know what your network setup and connectivity looks like so I'm just guessing here.
