I miss the old days, when Republicans stood for repealing Obamacare. Republicans across the country and every member of my caucus campaigned on repeal – often declaring they would tear out Obamacare “root and branch!”

What happened?

Now too many Republicans are falling all over themselves to stuff hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ dollars into a bill that doesn’t repeal Obamacare and feeds Big Insurance a huge bailout.

Obamacare regulations? Still here. Taxes? Many still in place, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars.

Insurance company bailouts? Those, too. Remember when Republicans complained about Obamacare’s risk corridors? Remember when we called the corridors nothing more than insurance company bailouts? I remember when one prominent GOP candidate during a presidential debate explicitly called out the Obamacare risk corridors as a bailout to insurance companies. Does anyone else?

Now, the Senate GOP plan being put forward is chock full of insurance bailout money – to the tune of nearly $200 billion. Republicans, present company excluded, now support the idea of lowering your insurance premium by giving a subsidy to the insurance company.

Remarkable. If the GOP now supports an insurance stabilization fund to lower insurance prices, maybe they now support a New Car stabilization fund to lower the price of cars. Or maybe the GOP would support an iPhone stabilization fund to lower the price of phones.

The possibilities are limitless once you accept that the federal government should subsidize prices. I remember when Republicans favored the free choice of the marketplace.

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. I want to repeat that so everyone realizes why I’ll vote “no” as it stands now:

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. Not even close.

In fact, the Senate GOP bill codifies and likely expands many aspects of Obamacare.

The Senate Obamacare-lite bill codifies a federal entitlement to insurance. With the Senate GOP bill, Republicans, for the first time, will signal that they favor a key aspect of Obamacare – federal taxpayer funding of private insurance purchases.

The bill will transfer billions of dollars to people who will then transfer billions of dollars to insurance companies. What a great business model – encourage the federal government to use taxpayer money to buy a private company’s product. Great business model, that is, if you are Big Insurance. Remarkable.

The Senate Obamacare-lite bill does what the Democrats forgot to do – appropriate billions for Obamacare’s cost-sharing reductions, aka subsidies. Really? Republicans are going to fund Obamacare subsidies that the Democrats forgot to fund?

Doesn’t sound much like repeal to me. One might even argue it’s worse than Obamacare-lite because it actually creates a giant superfund to bail out the insurance companies – something even the Democrats feared to do.

I was first elected in the heady days of the Tea Party Tidal Wave, when tens of thousands of citizens gathered on the central city lawn to protest Big Government, Big Debt, and a government takeover of health care.

This citizenry won in four elections. Each time, the GOP establishment told conservatives, “We can’t repeal Obamacare until we have all three branches of government.” Finally, in 2016, that came to pass. Republicans now control all three branches of government.

And . . . the best that is offered is Obamacare-lite: keeping the Obamacare subsidies, keeping some of the Obamacare taxes, creating a giant insurance bailout superfund, and keeping most of the Obamacare regulations.

Shame. Shame on many in the GOP for promising repeal and instead affirming, keeping, and, in some cases, expanding Obamacare. What a shame.

I recall George Bush Senior and his 'no new taxes' pledge.

It seems to me that the GOP has been promising us 'repeal 0bamacare' for a lot longer than Bush Senior promised no new taxes, ranted at the public and ran harder in elections on it than even Bush did.

They may reap what they've sown. How can we be satisfied when they are clearly rescuing 0bamacare, not repealing it.

For the system to have integrity, each party should enact the agenda that they campaigned on. Otherwise, what use is our vote if they get away with 7 years of baldfaced lies and then never enact their single most clear campaign theme?

If they don't fix this, they will lose control of Congress in 2018, I think.

If they don't fix this, they SHOULD lose control of Congress in 2018. And for a long, long time thereafter.

This is not a little thing.

This is a baldfaced, in-your-face, direct, repeated lie, told over and over again, to get power.

It is not acceptable. It will not be accepted. It is a death penalty offense for the Republican Party.

I have always said that the difference between Democrats and Republicans is that Democrats do what they say they are going to do. They campaign on it, and when they have power, they DO it, to the very greatest extent they can.

When they fall from power BECAUSE of that, they fight a tenacious rearguard action - through the courts and the filibuster and state houses and the civil servants - to hold onto their gains.

When they get power back, they continue to push, with power, to advance their agenda.

Their agenda is utterly clear and always has been. They say what they want, and when they win, they do it.

I have likewise always said, for years and years - to much hatred in response - that Republicans are lying shitstains. They CAMPAIGN on certain things - repealing Roe, no new taxes, repealing Obamacare - but when they have actual POWER, they appoint justices that defend Roe, they impose new taxes, and now, they uphold healthcare.

They have their reasons, and their reasons are that they are advancing their REAL agenda, which has very little to do with the lies they feed to the duped rube bubbas whom they stampede into voting for them election cycle after election cycle.

Democrats are evil and principled - what they want is generally quite bad, and they are sincere, determined and completely honest about what it is.

Republican leaders are lying shitstains. Republican voters are duped rubes.

I've said it before - and endured the endless carping of the duped rubes, and been called a Democrat - and every time the Republicans do it AGAIN, just exactly as I predicted time and again - it makes me feel so vindicated, and so very much smarter than the duped rube Republicans who bark at me like retards, because I've insulted their eminently insultworthy party - them for being idiots, and their leaders for being lying pieces of shit.

Republican leaders are lying pieces of shit. Republican voters who stay loyal are abused girlfriends who keep going back for more "because he really loves me". Stupid cunts.

I think we all know how much more you prefer the honest baby murderers and sodomites of the Democrat slave party over the anti-sodomy, anti-abortion, anti-slavery GOP who has stood very strongly against those things (no thanks to the likes of you). And you are quite self-righteous in your preference for the sodomite and the killer of babies and the slaver.

I prefer people be honest.

Remember, I oppose abortion only because I accept the religious concept that life begins at conception.

That is a Biblical concept, according to ME - I have had many Christians unable to show me anywhere in the Bible it actually SAYS that. And where I have shown that to liberal Christians, they deny that it says it.

So, the only reason I oppose abortion early on in pregnancy is because I have convinced myself that the Scriptures say that, and that that part of the Scripture reflects God's intent.

I note the really bad implications of that for human liberty: abortion permits sex without the consequences of mistakes, permits rape and incest victims to get rid of the reminder of their horror and shame. And prevents the coming into the world of millions of babies who will feel the pain and suffering of poverty and neglect.

I am only willing to impose the "No abortion" rule IF the full panoply of things that God ALSO demands - in terms of social supports and poverty relief. To outlaw abortion and support the 2 million additional poor babies every year is going to require a HUGE expansion of the social welfare state and a massive expansive of education budgets. I recognize that taxes will have to go up, and there will need to be a great deal more wealth redistribution.

And when I hear Republicans bellowing their outrage at those necessary supports for all of those babies, but maintaining their support for outlawing abortion, I spit on those Republican supposed "Christians" who would impose the childbirth but not fulfill God's commandment of support. They are not Christians, they are hypocritical vipers - servants of Satan - human beings every bit as evil as the Democrats they hate.

The difference is that Democrats worship sexual license and all that comes with it, and are willing to commit murder to avoid the consequences.

Republicans who oppose abortion in all forms but who refuse to face up to the reality of a very Leviticus-like tithing social welfare state wealth redistribution to feed and educate all of those poor babies are worshippers of mammon, money-grubbing gold lovers, not lovers of mankind or babies.

I despise BOTH as being completely opposed to God, and arrogantly so - but I recognize that the Democrat way - kill the babies before they feel pain - means a lot less human suffering and a lot less crime, and greater liberty - while the Republican way augments human suffering by millions upon millions, and holds onto money.

What I support is the very realistic heavy wealth redistribution, involuntarily through taxation, as the inevitable necessity of heavy restriction on sexual freedom imposed by outlawing abortion.

I am the only person I have ever met who is realistic about this, and who insists on BOTH chapters of God's law - the don't kill part AND the tithes and mandatory wealth redistribution part.

Republicans curse at me all the time because THEY are serpents. Not me.

Anywhere, here we are, with you cursing at me once again because Republicans told you and me for year after year, election after election, that they were going to strike down Obamacare. Now they control the whole government and are revealed, AGAIN, to be the liars they always said they were, and you're coming after ME again, because I would impose God's FULL law on you.

I have not fooled myself at all. I am completely consistent and completely rational, and I take everything into account. YOU are the one who worships mammon so much you cannot accept the INEVITABLE need for MASSIVE wealth redistribution if you get your dream of outlawing abortion.

It's my dream too - but not just to create expanding oceans of poor desperate women and poverty, like before, and like in the Third World.

Your way can never happen, because people are not stupid. Democrats, at least, won't let the burgeoning masses of poor be born at all.

I would have them be born, and NOT BE POOR because of redistribution of the wealth to cover everybody, just like God laid out in Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers.

You have fooled yourself.

Democrats are honest: they say what they will do. I hate it and I won't vote for them.

Republicans are liars: they say what they will do. They get power and never do it - they put Roe in place, and have had the Supreme Court since 1969 - Roe is still there. They've replaced the whole court twice! But with abortion it's just like with Obamacare: they are liars, and you think yourself holy because you've followed liars.

You cursed me out during the election because I supported Trump, and you've cursed me out many times before.'

I consider it a badge of honor and a signal of my holy righteousness when mammon-lovers on the right who make up a false gospel of purely voluntary charity - God imposed a mandatory tithe and firstfruits and sabbaths and loans and debt forgiveness, nothing voluntary at all. That's the PRICE of a burgeoning population.

You won't have it. Because you worship mammon.

All the while I recognize that it is a CHOICE to read Scripture to say that life begins at conception, but NOT a choice to read of the wealth redistribution to alleviate poverty - and I choose to fully follow what God said.

And I keep my eyes open and SEE the lies and self-deception of the Right.

The Left is honest, and Evil. The Right is dishonest, and Evil. I point it out, and you give voice to the Devil every time, hissing and spitting like a serpent.

That's how I know that I am speaking the words of Truth and of the Lord, because people who support the Liars in their mammon hate it and spit at me.

I still support Trump. HE hasn't lied to me yet. The Republicans are already lost causes.

You can try to explain it away as much as you like.

I summarized succinctly your longstanding stated preference for those who fight for and legalize sodomy, baby murder, and maintaining the slave trade.

I'm not accusing you. You have confessed to it. Many times. Proudly even. Your typing can't change that.

Good morning, Satan's little helper.

Babies are still being murdered because Republicans made Roe, and Republicans have kept it standing for all these years.

Oh, they CAMPAIGN against it, and harrumph about it in the high moral dudgeon of which you are a shining example. But they, with the power to strike it down, never do - because they never intended to. They are lying vipers, you see.

Ditto for Obamacare. They beat the horse of repealing it for three successive election cycles, ever explaining that they didn't have control of Congress, or they didn't have the White House. Now they have all four parts of government: White House, House, Senate, Supreme Court, and 35 states to boot. But they're not going to repeal it. They're going to leave it stand.

This is because they are vipers, lying shitstains.

And you will support them with your dying breath, because you are a duped rube, Satan's little helper.

I do indeed stand on what I have said: Democrats are honest - they TELL you their evil, and then they seek to implement just exactly what they said. Out of power, they defend it to the last trench. I don't vote for them, because I oppose their evil, but I DO admire their resolve, their willingness to state what they believe, and their willingness to fight to the death.

Republicans are dishonest. They SAY they are for certain things, but that is always a lie, aimed at getting stupid Bubbas all fired up to vote for them. In power, Republicans always pursue their REAL agenda, which is tax and regulation cuts for the rich. Republicans are no more pro-life than Democrats, and no more opposed to Obamacare than Democrats. They just PRETEND to be in order to dupe people and get power.

That is why I prefer to see Republicans wiped out and Democrats rule, even though I don't vote for Democrats.

The pro-life and anti-Obamacare, and pro-middle and working class people can never actually get what they want until the Republican Party is destroyed, because the Republican Party has been very good at duping enough of them every cycle to suck all of the oxygen out of the room.

Given that the rubes get duped, and Republicans are both pro-choice and pro- Obamacare, the only REAL difference between Democrat and Republican rule is that the Democrats go after the rich with high taxes and regulation, and effect some wealth redistribution, which the Republicans abhor.

That's the way it is. That's the way it's been. And that's what I've said over and over. You object to it, obviously. You offer nothing in the alternative other than your pathetic, useless and utterly ineffective whining about pro-life. The people you are allied with - the Republicans - have fucked you in the ass on this for 47 years, but you're such a duped rube that you still don't see it. And you always will be. Satan's little helper - that's you.

Quit fucking lying. Democrats gave us roe vs wade.

You are a fool. Look at the composition of the Supreme Court in 1973. It was a Republican majority court. It has been since. Republicans gave us Roe, and Republicans have kept it in place since 1973, as the have controlled the court ever since.

I don't support abortion, actually. You do. You also support Obamacare. You support Republicans, and Republicans gave us Roe and have kept it in place - they have ALWAYS had the power to remove it.

And right now the Republicans control the whole government, but they are not planning on repealing Obamacare, like they campaigned. They are seeking to keep it in place and modify it and subsidize it.

You support abortion and you support Obamacare, because you support the Republican party.

You're the real fool, because you're too stubborn to open your eyes to see how many times, and for how many years, you have been duped by these people. You're precisely the sort of voter Republicans love. You're like an inner city black who votes for Democrats, even though the Democrats were the party of slavery and Jim Crow and are now poverty pimps who never do anything about the poverty and desperation of inner city blacks.

You're just exactly like them. They're stupid blacks who vote Democrat "because". You're an old fool white who votes Republican "because".

Democrats and Republicans, respectively, depend on you, because you're so reliably stuck on stupid.

I am Independent. I call a spade a spade. It's so obvious that you should be able to see it.

When I get called a fool and a liar and evil enough, I start to develop enmity towards the people who call me names, and I call them back.

And the problem when I do that is that I am NOT a fool, and I am NOT a supporter of abortion. Or of Democrats. So actually, all of the stupid crazy shit that you fling at me in your desperation is utterly untrue and I know it.

But you DO support Republicans, and you DO stupidly think that it was the Democrats who gave us abortion, and you really are blind to the fact that the Republicans are, right now, moving to uphold Obamacare in the Senate. So when I fire back with these zingers at you, every one of them is hitting the target and is TRUE, though you're too angry, stubborn and blind to see it.

It's tiresome. It does raise the question: "If you're so smart, Vicomte, why do you keep posting here?" And that's a damned good question, actually. Probably because I am addicted to this sort of Internet communication.

You and your ilk are too stubborn, stupid and blind to ever really learn anything from me - you COULD, but I won't follow your pied piper politicians and their ridiculous theories so you get angry too much at me - I'm trying to HELP you.

You won't be helped. You're hopeless. Why even try? For the country to change, people like you need to STOP SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE WHO SCREW YOU.

Instead, you come after me because I won't close my eyes and take a cultlike loyalty oath to Republican assfuckers who keep right on assfucking YOU, but you blame ME for some sort of infidelity.

And you really believe yourself to be close to God too.

Tell you what. I give up.

I chose my words carefully

Yes, I recall all of them over the years.

You carefully choose stupid words and string them together to say the same stupid shit over and over again.

Sometimes you rise to the point of cogency, then you melt into your blind stubborn emotionalism, just like AKA Stone does.

I recall back during the campaign, when I was fighting very hard for Trump, and you decided that I was a mental midget, that you did not respect my intellect, because I was supporting Trump.

Well, I supported him and he won.

And now are you not also supporting Trump?

What does that make you? It makes you a Republican. You will compromise yourself over and over again, do all sorts of contortions and backflips, be an asshole, etc., to support your tribe. Even though your tribe is the reason we have abortion - this thing you say you hate - and even though they have protected it, and always will.

Why do I bother with this?

Not going to. Signing off.

Democrats gave us roe vs wade.

Abortion was Republican policy. That is a thorough thread by Askel5, but I'm not sure if it includes the fact that even Reagan was talked into signing a bill legalizing abortion when he was governor of CA. It was supposed to be only in cases of rape, incest, or in cases where the health of the mother was at risk, or that's his excuse. It seems inconceivable to me that he would not have known that it was already legal to abort to save the mother's life, or that "health of the mother" would include "mental health".

At any rate, that thread details GHW Bush's involvement as well as policy promoted by Henry Kiss-Singer.

Abortion was Republican policy.

Prior to Reagan, certainly. At that time, only National Review was anti-abortion and that was due more to Catholic doctrine than politics.

Pro-life is an example of an issue that jumped parties. It started mostly as faithful Catholics, many in Dem union households opposing abortion. As it became more Protestant over the decades, we saw many Catholics drop it just as they dropped their opposition to sodomy marriage. The argument can and should be made that support by cafeteria Catholics for sodomy marriage was crucial in its rapid advances in various states and its final victory in the USSC where it passed because of Catholic support (Kennedy voting with the liberal wing of the Court).

I really hope Trump does not nominate any Catholics to the Court. They have been a disaster other than Thomas and Alito.
