Footage has emerged showing two white police officers struggling to explain why they pulled over Florida's only black state attorney. Video posted online by the Orlando Police Department shows two officers approaching the car of State Attorney Aramis Ayala after the pulled her over on June 19 about 8.15pm. One officer was seen standing at the passenger side window, as the other cop – whose bodycamera was recording – approaching the other side. When he reached the window, Ayala is seen in the clip grabbing her license from her wallet and handing it to the cop. Video has emerged of two officers struggling to explain why they pulled over Florida's only black state attorney, Aramis Ayala (pictured) She then informed the cop she was the state attorney, which led to the officer attempting to explain why she had been stopped. 'Thank you, your tag didn't come back, never seen that before, but we're good now. We ran the tag, I've never seen it before with a Florida tag, it didn't come back to anything, so that's the reason for the stop.' Ayala then asked, 'what was the tag run for?' which led to further attempts at explanation from the officer. Footage was posted online by the Orlando Police Department and it shows Ayala in her car The state attorney handed one of the officers her license, leading to an awkward exchange between then Ayala appeared to be getting annoyed with the cops during the stop, which took place on the night of June 19 'Oh we run tags through all the time, whether it's a traffic light and that sort stuff, that's how we figure out if cars are stolen and that sort of thing,' he said, as the attorney could be seen getting noticeably annoyed in her seat. 'Also, the windows are really dark, I don't have a tint measure but that's another reason for the stop.' Ayala then asks for the officers' names, saying: 'Do you guys have cards on you?' 'One second… actually, this isn't my car but I can write my name down,' the cop said, before grabbing a notepad from his pocket. He then writes his name down, as well as his partner's, before ripping the page from his book and handing it to Ayala. 'There you are, have a good day,' he is heard saying, as the attorney drives away.' Eventually, the cop handed Ayala back her license and the attorney was allowed to drive away

Why? Is that supposed to make a difference to law enforcement? Did she expect favoritism by saying that? Sure does look that way to me. So, who's out of line here?
Perhaps she wanted him to know she is familiar with the law and legal proceedings. Or perhaps she only wanted to assure him she was gainfully employed and not a vagrant. Perhaps he inquired. Or any of a dozen other reasons.
All of which are certainly a possibility. And the sound of hooves in the distance could be from zebras, too. But, Occam's razor says they're horses AND that she volunteered that information because she wanted them to know who they were dealing with and they'd better toe the line. I know it and you know it.
You have no evidence of that. But perhaps, given all the ways this incident could have ended (cop shooting her, cop shooting her dog if available, cop using taser or baton, cop planting evidence of a crime, cop bearing false witness, cop beating a confession out of her, etc), this was actually the best possible use of this badged bureaucrat's time. Heaven forbid he should waste his bureaucraatic time on crimes against people or property when he can pursue a windshield tint violation without a tint meter. Can we at least agree on that?
Nope. Many criminals are caught because of minor traffic violations. The cop is actually making the streets safer. But you would limit them to responding and taking notes on crimes against people or property. Yeah. That's real helpful.
