The police officer who was shot in the head while sitting in a police vehicle in the Bronx early Wednesday has died according to law enforcement sources. The officer has been identified as 48-year-old Miosotis Familia.

A suspect came up and blasted Familia through the window without warning, sources said.

“It was an attempted cop assassination,” one law enforcement source told The Post.

The suspect approached at 12:30 a.m. as Familia sat inside a temporary headquarters vehicle at East 183rd Street and Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights, according to sources.

The suspect has been identified as Alexander Bonds, 34. Cops say he was on parole for a 2014 robbery in Syracuse.

Familia — a 12-year-veteran who is with the Anti-Crime unit of the 46th Precinct — was rushed to St. Barnabus Hospital, where she was undergoing surgery but could not be saved.

“This is absolutely an unprovoked attack,” said NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill.

The commissioner said the suspect fired one round, after which the shot officer’s partner called for backup.

Two other officers confronted Bonds about a block away, and shot him dead, police said.

A bystander wound up being shot in the stomach, and was in stable condition at St. Barnabas. A silver revolver was found near the dead suspect.

Cops rushing to the scene were warned by radio to keep their patrol vehicle windows closed while responding.

At least five evidence cups covered spent rounds coulalong Morris Avenue between 183rd and 184th streets.

Witness Jay Marzelli, 17, at first thought all the gunshot was fireworks.

“I was in this bodega right here on Crescent, just getting a sandwich and all of a sudden there was all this running and stuff going on and I look out probably 40,50, 60 cops screaming, “Call a paramedic, clear the block!’”

“It looked like there was a riot going on… two seconds later I hear gunshots: bam, bam…. and then the police officer was just laying there in front of the stationary precinct – right here on Crescent and [E 183.]

“I saw an officer laying there in the ground unconscious in another officers arms. Police officers screaming: ‘Get the f—ing paramedics.’”

“It was crazy — just insane. There were police officers everywhere.”

The shooting recalled the assassination of two uniformed officers as they sat in their marked police car on a street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn in December, 2014.

Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos — both posthumously promoted to detective — were targeted for their uniforms, officials said at the time.

That shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, had posted anti-police threats on his Instagram hours three hours before opening fire into the two officers’ vehicle.

Brinsley fled into a nearby subway, and shot himself to death on a platform as cops closed in.

Glad the perp is dead. I'm sure the parole board members are feeling real bad / sarc

In cases like this, the parole boards should get the same treatment as the perp !

Won't happen, but seriously the parole boards are way too lenient. They need to be held accountable for their screw ups. In fact, get rid of em. No parole.

This is a damn shame !!

I wonder who fired the shot.

My first thought.

And why does NYC issue patrol cars to officers and then just park them and let them munch donuts until someone sees them (accurately) as a perfect target of opportunity and sneaks up and shoots them?

The side windows of these police cars should be bulletproof if they're going to park cops on the street as if they have a big bullseye painted on their windows.

You mean they're not?

Unreal.

Well, someday maybe (NYPD to install bulletproof windows in all patrol cars".

Inserts are crappy, not protective enough.

They need bulletproof glass in these cars if they're just going to park them on the street for "police presence" and make them such easy targets for any disgruntled Bernie-bro to shoot up at their leisure.

(NYPD to install bulletproof windows in all patrol cars".

Treating symptoms. Next will be molotov cocktails under the car, or whatever leapfrogs the last defense. It's like walking a beat in full body armor and a shield, maybe safer but who can relate to a robot costume.

Resident should have a direct say in who is policing their neighborhood. The ancap solution to completely privatize cops, which Will Grigg profiled as far more effective than the status quo, has flaws, but the positive elements of user choice can be adapted to government forces.

Treating symptoms.

Maybe.

But chp cruisers can take out anything short of a mack truck and survive.

I can't remember the fatality rate for chp but i don't think it's excessive.

Resident should have a direct say in who is policing their neighborhood.

In the old days, cops knew who lived in the communities they patrolled, and the communities knew them. That made the cop much better in knowing intruders from residents, and the bad people from the good. The cop was therefore part of the community, instead of today where they are complete strangers.

“This is absolutely an unprovoked attack,” said NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill.
Was it an “absolutely an unprovoked attack?”

Did the attack actually occur without any motivation or provocation?

Some can lay blame on the cop-hating rhetoric and easily trace the start of that cop-hating rhetoric …

The media – both conservative and mainstream – are pointing out an undeniable trend President Obama is demonstrating: honoring those killed by police, condemning police for misconduct, and ignoring police killed in the line of duty by black assailants.

"Barack Obama makes a habit of castigating police for their misbehavior, and by his actions, it could easily be assumed that he is disinterested [sic] in engendering any sympathy for police, even those killed in the line of duty, while he fans the flames of anti-police rage by honoring those killed by police," Breitbart's William Bigelow asserted.

"As Instapundit points out in comparing Obama's actions vis-à-vis police, Obama honored Freddie Gray — who, according to CNN, had over 20 criminal cases filed against him before his death in police custody — by sending Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson, chair of the Obama administration's My Brother's Keeper Task Force; Heather Foster, an adviser in the White House Office of Public Engagement; and Elias Alcantara from the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to his funeral."

Noting that both Brown and Gray were black, Bigelow points to the White House's unwavering support of the two, which is attested by Washington, DC's largest Left-leaning daily.

"The Washington Post reported Obama sent three government officials to Michael Brown's funeral: Johnson and two officials who worked in the White House Office of Public Engagement, Marlon Marshall and Heather Foster," Bigelow recounted. "Brown robbed a convenience store before his fatal encounter with Officer Darren Wilson."

The Breitbart.com reporter notes the stark contrast to how the president responded to the recent murder of a policeman in New York City.

"Yet at the funeral on Friday for Officer Brian Moore, 25, a white NYPD officer who was cold-bloodedly murdered by a black man, Obama sent no one, according to New York 1, despite the fact that tens of thousands of uniformed officers stood in formation outside the church and hundreds of others attended the funeral inside," Bigelow reported.

Moore reportedly did nothing to instigate the attack, yet the Obama administration did little to condemn the killing or honor the officer slain in the line of duty.

"The NYPD reported that Moore and another officer, Erik Jansen, 30, were sitting in an unmarked police vehicle in Queens last Saturday when they saw Demetrius Blackwell adjusting something in his waistband," Bigelow added. "Moore pulled up behind Blackwell, who allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and opened fire on both officers."

According to NYPD Deputy Inspector Mike Coyle, Moore was an officer's officer and a blessing to all.

"He was every commanding officer's dream," Coyle recollected, noting that Moore received two exceptional police service medals and always visited his mother on off-days. "If I had an army of Brian Moores, there'd be no crime in the city. He could walk into a room, and his smile would turn your day around if you were having a bad day. A real crime fighter, a true believer, a heart of gold."

Sheriff: Obama culpable in Mississippi police slayings

Obama's legacy of not supporting the police was brought to light once again after two Mississippi police officers were fatally shot over the weekend allegedly by black assailants during a routine traffic stop. Four suspects have been arrested, but one conservative Wisconsin sheriff says there's a fifth suspect on the loose.

Milwaukee County (Wisconsin) Sheriff David A. Clarke, an African American, made clear his take on Obama's role in the escalating conflict between the police and blacks in America less than 24 hours after the two Hattiesburg (Mississippi) officers – Liquori Tate, 24, and Benjamin J. Deen, 34 – were shot by the men they had pulled over.

In a series of tweets, Clarke said the deaths of the two Hattiesburg police officers were connected to the volatile situation in Ferguson, Missouri. He blamed Obama for instigating the police hatred and deadly racial tensions. In fact, he considered Obama as the fifth suspect.

"Obama has created a pathway for the cop-hating rhetoric to flourish," Clarke tweeted after the Mississippi slayings. "He has led the chorus."

The Wisconsin sheriff also touched on Obama's blatant lack of support for downed police officers.

"Hope Obama dispatched AG Lynch to Hattiesburg … to meet with families of slain officers — not suspect's family," Clarke sarcastically commented in a later tweet. "Obama's reaction will be to sic USDOJ on Hattiesburg PD to look for patterns of racism."

Responding to a tweet saying that Democrats got what they wanted — "dead cops," Clarke gave his take on what happened in Mississippi.

"That's not the goal, however … They want socialism," Clarke injected. "Weakening the institution of policing helps get them there."

Clarke — an avid gun rights activist who ran radio ads in 2013 urging citizens to retaliate against violent criminals instead of relying on 9-1-1 — also tweeted that "Obama wants police trained to de-escalate and accept the culture of violent nature of street criminals."

When another Twitter follower asked, "How can anyone claim lives matter while cheering the murder of police officers?" Clarke had a quick response.

"Pay no attention to those goofs … Keep your eye on Obama trying to 'transform' policing," Clarke tweeted. "I need your help fighting him. … And Obama and his ilk that say the police are in need of transforming. Transform the underclass instead."

Clarke then pointed to Obama's alleged culpability in the racial tensions with cops.

"Obama started this war on police intentionally," Clarke added on Twitter. "Right in line with his community agitating. Show to Obama [photos of black assailants]. These [are] the face[s] of killers, NOT Officers Darren Wilson or Christopher Manny. Obama will rally cop haters off that pic saying excessive force was used on this suspected killer."

Clarke appeared on CNN after posting his tweets, addressing how the media doesn't point out the race of those who slay the police.

"Yet every time a white officer kills a black man in the United States of America, the media is so quick to point out the race, but we don't do it here," Clarke told CNN. "We know for a fact — statistically anyway — 40 percent of officers killed in the line of duty are shot by black suspects."

Clarke also argued that the Baltimore police investigation was conducted for political expediency.

"This investigation with the Baltimore PD is a fraud," Clarke insisted. "Just two months ago, Baltimore Police Department was held up by President Obama as a model police agency in terms of best practices and community-based approach to policing."

Clarke said that the alleged corruption coming out of the Baltimore Police Department all of a sudden doesn't make sense.

"You can't go in 60 days from being a model agency to now being an agency with a lot of red flags in terms of questionable patterns and practices," Clarke concluded, according to The Washington Post.

In the meantime, Obama’s little minions have picked up the clarion call to continue very loudly and very clearly the cop-hating rhetoric.

As the beat of the cop-hating talk goes on, and on, and on, and on …

Why? Be respectful and you will be alright. I never have an issue. No the law if you carry and you will be okay. If you do not understand the law or freak out around officers then you will have a problem!

99.99% of cops do a good job.
