George S. Patton, America's greatest combat general of the Second World War, was assassinated after the conflict with the connivance of US leaders, according to a new book.
The newly unearthed diaries of a colourful assassin for the wartime Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner of the CIA, reveal that American spy chiefs wanted Patton dead because he was threatening to expose allied collusion with the Russians that cost American lives.
The death of General Patton in December 1945, is one of the enduring mysteries of the war era. Although he had suffered serious injuries in a car crash in Manheim, he was thought to be recovering and was on the verge of flying home.
But after a decade-long investigation, military historian Robert Wilcox claims that OSS head General "Wild Bill" Donovan ordered a highly decorated marksman called Douglas Bazata to silence Patton, who gloried in the nickname "Old Blood and Guts".
His book, "Target Patton", contains interviews with Mr Bazata, who died in 1999, and extracts from his diaries, detailing how he staged the car crash by getting a troop truck to plough into Patton's Cadillac and then shot the general with a low-velocity projectile, which broke his neck while his fellow passengers escaped without a scratch.
Mr Bazata also suggested that when Patton began to recover from his injuries, US officials turned a blind eye as agents of the NKVD, the forerunner of the KGB, poisoned the general.
Mr Wilcox told The Sunday Telegraph that when he spoke to Mr Bazata: "He was struggling with himself, all these killings he had done. He confessed to me that he had caused the accident, that he was ordered to do so by Wild Bill Donovan.
"Donovan told him: 'We've got a terrible situation with this great patriot, he's out of control and we must save him from himself and from ruining everything the allies have done.' I believe Douglas Bazata. He's a sterling guy."
Mr Bazata led an extraordinary life. He was a member of the Jedburghs, the elite unit who parachuted into France to help organise the Resistance in the run up to D-Day in 1944. He earned four purple hearts, a Distinguished Service Cross and the French Croix de Guerre three times over for his efforts.
After the war he became a celebrated artist who enjoyed the patronage of Princess Grace of Monaco and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
He was friends with Salvador Dali, who painted a portrait of Bazata as Don Quixote.
He ended his career as an aide to President Ronald Reagan's Navy Secretary John Lehman, a member of the 9/11 Commission and adviser to John McCain's presidential campaign.
Mr Wilcox also tracked down and interviewed Stephen Skubik, an officer in the Counter-Intelligence Corps of the US Army, who said he learnt that Patton was on Stalin's death list. Skubik repeatedly alerted Donovan, who simply had him sent back to the US.
"You have two strong witnesses here," Mr Wilcox said. "The evidence is that the Russians finished the job."
The scenario sounds far fetched but Mr Wilcox has assembled a compelling case that US officials had something to hide. At least five documents relating to the car accident have been removed from US archives.
The driver of the truck was whisked away to London before he could be questioned and no autopsy was performed on Patton's body.
With the help of a Cadillac expert from Detroit, Mr Wilcox has proved that the car on display in the Patton museum at Fort Knox is not the one Patton was driving.
"That is a cover-up," Mr Wilcox said.
George Patton, a dynamic controversialist who wore ivory-handled revolvers on each hip and was the subject of an Oscar winning film starring George C. Scott, commanded the US 3rd Army, which cut a swathe through France after D-Day.
But his ambition to get to Berlin before Soviet forces was thwarted by supreme allied commander Dwight D. Eisenhower, who gave Patton's petrol supplies to the more cautious British General Bernard Montgomery.
Patton, who distrusted the Russians, believed Eisenhower wrongly prevented him closing the so-called Falaise Gap in the autumn of 1944, allowing hundreds of thousands of German troops to escape to fight again,. This led to the deaths of thousands of Americans during their winter counter-offensive that became known as the Battle of the Bulge.
In order to placate Stalin, the 3rd Army was also ordered to a halt as it reached the German border and was prevented from seizing either Berlin or Prague, moves that could have prevented Soviet domination of Eastern Europe after the war.
Mr Wilcox told The Sunday Telegraph: "Patton was going to resign from the Army. He wanted to go to war with the Russians. The administration thought he was nuts.
"He also knew secrets of the war which would have ruined careers.
I don't think Dwight Eisenhower would ever have been elected president if Patton had lived to say the things he wanted to say." Mr Wilcox added: "I think there's enough evidence here that if I were to go to a grand jury I could probably get an indictment, but perhaps not a conviction."
Charles Province, President of the George S. Patton Historical Society, said he hopes the book will lead to definitive proof of the plot being uncovered. He said: "There were a lot of people who were pretty damn glad that Patton died. He was going to really open the door on a lot of things that they screwed up over there."

Patton wasn't gonna expose "screw ups"; He was was going to expose RAW TREASON. (Same as TODAY).
His credibility quotient was extremely high given the propaganda campaign that began as soon as he slapped that soldier and was REQUIRED to apologize (PC's Genesis).
The Media AND Military created that "crazy loose cannon" caricature that they'd hoped would preempt any of Patton's future exposure that was said "would have ruined careers." YES -- "careers" as PROFESSIONAL TRAITORS, collaborators with Uncle Joe, Nazi-Ratline snakes, and the Commie infestation in DC and at the War Dept.
Hey...Happy Independence Day, y'all!
Same ol'. Patton knew the Traitors were in charge. So did Ike (but he kept his mouth shut until warning about the "Military-Industrial Complex.")
JFK was going to jettison the Federal Reserve. NWO/Deep State: "Nuh-uh."
Reagan was given a warning to modify his agenda.
President Trump remains in grave danger -- we all know it.
The Same Rats infesting The Swamp are plotting as we speak. The NWO-Creatures declaration of war is clear as their "Military Goob" is de facto the 'Deep State.' Congress provides cover.
Their tactical forces are comprised of The Media as its Communications/Propaganda wing; Academe and Judiciary. Its grunts: Moslems, Illegal Mexicans, and deranged street liberals-Leftist.
Would anyone else here want to add, delete or change any of my presumed chain of command or order of tactical force? Be my guess -- all suggestions are appreciated.
The treason of America's globalist-elites began then and there in earnest (although one can point to FDR and claim it began there, can't they?)
Q How many people will concede that general George Patton WAS indeed assassinated?? How many of you HERE believe/know it?
There were technically two attempts to assassinate Patton; once as a target of the car "accident"; And when THAT didn't accomplish the Mission," of course the Russians were allowed to finish him off, poisoning him -- AS ZERO security protected this great American hero. Q: Why wasn't Patton shipped stateside so he could see the finest medical professionals?
Patton's assassination truly is one of the most disgraceful chapters in US History.
A cultural aside: The rueful lyrics to Dion's anthem, 'Abraham Martin and John' should have begin with, 'Anybody here...seen my old friend General Patton?' *NOTE:

It seems strange that people would be trying, today in 2017, to prevent a discussion of a death that happened 74 years ago. Patton's generation is completely gone, and the generation of the people he commanded is mostly gone. The USSR is gone.
As far as grand strategy goes, it is certainly true that Patton wanted to drive much more aggressively straight into Germany. Eisenhower and FDR and Churchill all preferred a slower advance on a broad front, consolidating everything as they went forward.
The reason is fairly obvious, though it is rarely stated. Patton's approach may have wreathed Patton, the 3rd Army and the United States in great glory, but at the cost of a tremendous number of American lives. Punching a salient very deep into German lines had failed in Market Garden, with the loss of the British Airborne. Patton was aggressive, and could well have penetrated very deep into Germany - but what if he were cut off? If he were cut off the whole Allied line would have had to move forward, broadly, to relieve him. As it was the Western Allies were moving forward on a broad front as fast as they could. If Patton were cut off, the Soviets did not, for their part, HAVE TO keep up the steady pressure on Berlin. They COULD HAVE swung South instead, into the Balkans, into Greece, sweeping through Yugoslavia, approaching Italy. As it was, the Soviet heavy forces pounding relentlessly on the Germans in a direct lunge for Berlin forced the Germans to concentrate forces there, but the Germans would not have sent forces to defend the Balkans. Take the Soviet pressure off as the Soviets swept south for easy pickings in the Balkans, and the Western Allies would have faced the German forces alone. It would have been easier to cut off Patton and force the West into a very bloody meatgrinder.
The Western Allies, and particularly Ike, FDR and Truman, and Churchill, all agreed that the best strategy was the European version of the Anaconda Plan of the 1860s: strangle the Third Reich with steady pressure from all directions. Also, the Western Allies were more than willing to let the Soviets bear the brunt of the casualties digging out Berlin. Patton's plan would have had the US soldiers bearing those casualties. And why, exactly? To prevent the Soviets from getting their piece of Germany? Eastern Europe was going to go under Soviet domination no matter what, and the Soviets worked reasonably with the Western Allies as far as occupation zones. The Russians took Vienna, but they didn't stay. Nor did the Soviets occupy Yugoslavia.
We were allies, not enemies. Patton's dream of attacking the USSR was insane. For what purpose would all of those American lives have been shed? To give the Americans an Eastern European empire? We did not care enough about Europe in 1940 to go over and fight when FRANCE was occupied and London was bombed. Why, then, all of a sudden, in 1945, develop a pining to fly the US flag over the Pripet Marshes? Pure imperialist insanity, nothing more.
Patton wanted that war. FDR didn't. Truman didn't. Ike didn't. The American people didn't. No solder or airman in his right mind wanted it.
Ike's broad front strategy was very effective. It secured Western Europe with comparatively light American (and Allies) casualties. The one time he let himself be led astray was by the British in Market Garden, and that disaster taught the Allies that a narrow breakthrough was not the way to end the war.
The way we did it worked, for sure. Patton's way was a roll of the dice, at the risk of a huge number of American lives, for WHAT? That Brandenburg and West Prussia were under Soviet occupation was preferable to losing 100,000 American lives to grab it first. If the Russians want the grey boggy plains of East Germany, who cares? Really? Is THAT worth killing so many American boys over?
No, it wasn't. Fortunately, sane heads prevailed. Patton was good at what he was asked to do. He was a good operational commander. He was a bad grand strategist - his approach would have been very costly in American lives. Ike's conservative approach sought certain victory with minimal Western casualties. And it succeeded.
Happy Independence Day from British, NWO, and Globalists! (even if only for a couple hundred years ;-)

Yes this all stinks. Greatest GO warrior in our nation's history was silenced.
Yup. The US's greatest WW2 General, warrior and patriot extraordinaire who bled red white and blue snuffed out in Germany. I'll bet rumors were running rampant at the time.
EVERYONE knew Patton was on the Ruskies hit list. Yet -- next to NO security?? It's beyond disgraceful and embarrassing. It's a wonder MacArthur survived the threats he received for wanting to WIN in Asia (before over a hundred more thousand died, and hundreds of thousand more were wounded for the Globalists Games in Korea, Nam, Iraq, etc.
"Investigation" (so-called) ended with a few whimper. ONLY because those treasonous SOB globalists controlled the op, the agenda, and ALL legit investigations. Ike was in on the whole rancid-demonic conspiracy, as well as innumerable people (same situation as these days, over 70 years later!) Another fake autopsy performed as with JFK, Scalia, and others.
SHAME on Ike, Marshall and Bradley! Shame on our echelon phony patriots. Subversive State Dept ran the country THEN, as well as since.
The original story ran in 2008 when the book was published.
Nolu, I noted that "original" story along with the 2008 date. And touting of the book. But that's only part of what makes what's happened so strange. Yes, Tim Shipman, author (for at least two of the DM articles.
I can attest to the Daily Mail JUST running a concurrent version dated JULY 3 2017. I should know -- I had it cued up and ready to post (along with a DIFFERENT copy of the story version) until someone or some THING knocked out my internet connect FIVE different times. Yes, that's right -- they waited until I was just about to post when they disconnected me. So what happened to the July 3, 2017 version? Too hot to handle for the PTB? Might rattle some cages and remind us that the PTB BS manipulation of history and "news" has gone on since...1945??
In the last version of this Patton book story, the Daily Mail finally switched out Shipman as its author for "Barry Wigmore". WHY?? (rhetorically speaking) I noted THREE different headlines for basically the same story about Patton....Within an hour as I tried to post this. Wigmore replace Shipman in the final copy.
I am not a battle historian, but the above paragraph in the OP caught my eye. If true, it would tend to cast doubt on the version of events that Vicompte13 posted.
In answer to Liberator's poll quesiton: Yes, I believe he was assassinated via a high level plot. He was making a lot of noise about continuing into Russia to overthrow the communist regime. That was making people on both sides edgy.
I recall quite a bit of discussion of this on FR nearly 20 years ago.
It seems strange that people would be trying, today in 2017, to prevent a discussion of a death that happened 74 years ago. Patton's generation is completely gone, and the generation of the people he commanded is mostly gone. The USSR is gone.
How so is it "strange"??
The context is especially pertinent, given Patton' assassination (no NO "death") under such suspicious circumstances.
The PTB would rather NOT remind the Sheeple TODAY that these very the Powers-That-Be, aka "Elites" have NO reservations THEN or NOW about murdering ANYONE who stands in the way of their agenda.
Patton's assassination reveals just how subversive the US govt is, as well as the extent of the absence of honor, loyalty, and integrity within the bowels of Foggy Bottom.
Given Patton demise, it is especially eerie and spooky given his integral part within the US military hierarchy, in the liberation of Europe, defeat of Germany; considering his effective tactical and moral leadership. I reckon his prescience about whom the REAL enemy was and would be made him MORE of an "Enemy" than Stalin. And MORE dangerous because Patton just might be exposing a whole lotta truth about the Domestic Enemies Within -- even consider that, Vic?
That his generation is mostly died out is irrelevant. Same of the USSR.
As far as grand strategy goes, it is certainly true that Patton wanted to drive much more aggressively straight into Germany. Eisenhower and FDR and Churchill all preferred a slower advance on a broad front, consolidating everything as they went forward. The reason is fairly obvious, though it is rarely stated...
Is that consensus? OR, the "official" historical version fit for public consumption? Eisenhower and FDR and Churchill.
By 1944, FDR was a puppet already, on a string for his Commie-Globalist masters, who by then were already funneling A-Bomb R&D to Uncle Joe. Ike? He took orders.
The narrative, "slower advance" -- advanced by an already pro-Commie NY Times and Media -- played into the hands of Stalin, who Soviet plans were designed to enslave those nations occupied under the barbarian Soviet umbrella.
Patton's rep was already portrayed and sealed by the media (and leaked by the State Dept) as a wreckless cowboy who DID take chances, but chances with HIGH payout, LOW risk. HIS plan would to salvage MOST of Europe, save it from Communism and ITS goal, and have it under control of the US/British umbrella.
Lotta hypotheticals there, Vic.
Yes, the Soviets could have swung around the back door..gotten trapped. But more importantly, they wanted the BIG Prize: Berlin and Eastern Europe. They were quite willing to empty their cannon fodder into the teeth of the German defenses as we noted. Tactically, THE best move was the aggression pleaded with by Patton (as most of Germany's defenses were dug in to repel the Soviets.)
The loss of American lives would have been far greater had Ike, Bradley and Monty gotten their way. TIME = LIVES. Patton's Plan were SAVING lives AND territory (in theory.)
The British plans were a matter of a concession and reward for having been good "team players," appeasing Monty and the Brits. Their airborne Market Garden gambit was an epic fail tactically as well as moral-wise. The entire ETO was thrown into confusion and panic -- thanks to Monty. From THAT point forward, the US and Brits would tip-toe, giving the Germans much needed time after being on their heels. Patton knew this and insisted on playing offense (had he his way of course.)
Disagree with your assessment here.
Yes, Soviet heavy forces WERE concentrated along a broad front...dispersed. hat was keeping the brunt of German armor and division EXTREMELY busy. Patton's 3rd Army, additional divisions and resources, concentrated armor and continual allied air power, and Berlin would have been taken in a relative cake walk.
Instead, Bradley lost focus, lost the initiative, and got us ensnared in the Ardennes (becoming the Battle of the Bulge) because Ike left things to Bradley, whose indecisiveness cost the US dearly in both TIME and blood. ONLY Patton's will and focus bailed out Bradley AND Ike o else these would have gotten a LOT more bloody, prolonging the war at a time when the German weaponry was becoming very advanced.
The Western Allies, and particularly Ike, FDR and Truman, and Churchill, all agreed that the best strategy was the European version of the Anaconda Plan of the 1860s: strangle the Third Reich with steady pressure from all directions.
There were no planes and jets nor armor during the 1860. Obsolete strategy in 1944.
The US and Brits were engaged in a designed inertia, purposely stalling the Western Allied offensive, giving the Soviets time to occupy Berlin as well as Eastern Europe. In other words, FDR and Ike agreed to sell out to Uncle Joe (Churchill opposed it.)
Also, the Western Allies were more than willing to let the Soviets bear the brunt of the casualties digging out Berlin. Why let things get to that point when it was unnecessary?
Patton's plan would have had the US soldiers bearing those casualties. And why, exactly? To prevent the Soviets from getting their piece of Germany? Eastern Europe was going to go under Soviet domination no matter what, and the Soviets worked reasonably with the Western Allies as far as occupation zones. The Russians took Vienna, but they didn't stay. Nor did the Soviets occupy Yugoslavia.
Didn't occupy Yugoslavia IN NAME ONLY. Tito's Yugoslavia was essentially another Soviet state. True, the West was quite willing to have Stalin's cannon fodder blood-soak the German countryside and well as Berlin itself with Soviet blood. Convenient argument. But was utter annihilation the ONLY solution to German Unconditional Surrender?
Patton's Plan was not to commit suicide. Nor bleed unnecessarily like Stalin. Why not rather have a US-Brit occupation rather than Soviet? Does that debate really need to be argued? Why was the occupation of Eastern Europe by the USSR necessarily a forgone conclusion?
FDR and Ike (and the Commie State Dept and Globalists GAVE AWAY free nations as part of a "deal". They trafficked in BLOOD. Sold off and enslaved millions -- FOR WHAT?? What did the US and Brits get out of FDR's "deal"? It was MUCH worst than Chamberlain's surrender, frankly.
The US wound up dying at the guns of Soviets in Korea and Nam, spent gazillions during a "Cold War," fearing a Nuclear War for the next 40 years. Chyeah -- that also worked out well for us and tens of millions of starving slaves behind the Iron Curtain -- all because of a myth that Patton was going to make the Soviets mad or that the US was going to comitt hiri-kiri taking Berlin.
1940 was a faaaar more different than 1945, wasn't it? There was small window in which to FREE people (who Patton KNEW would soon be enslaved; WHILE the US forces, assets and will were still high. And effort would be minimal. The USA own the skies. Did you forget that YUGE tactical advantage, Vic?
And On WHAT planet EVER were the US and Soviets "not enemies"?? Convenient, hostile "allies" as best. Churchill knew Stalin was a voracious devil.
Stalin and USSR attacked and annexed a free Poland in 1939. It was only a matter of time before they attacked Finland (oh wait) and Sweden. And those nations in their sphere of influence -- only Hitler beat them to the punch. They were aggressor Commies, Nazis-Lite, Vic. The ONLY reason we lent them a hand against Hitler was obvious.
FDR stupidly played a Full House into a air of deuces in his negotiations at Yalta. The USA held ALL the cards -- economic, resources, bases, etc. No, we needn't fly the stars and stripes anywhere as a matter of "dominance" -- you grossly misconstrue Patton's intent and goals.
Patton wanted to back the Soviets off THEIR intent: OCCUPATION. ADVANCEMENT. EXPANSION. And drive hem back into their own Hell-Hole. You consider a defense of Free people "imperialism"?? Why wasn't that the case as American blood was spilled across France? Belgium? Holland? Denmark? Etal?
The Soviet Barbarian Invaders succeeded in enslavement because the same feckless, soul-less globalist mercs and Marxists soul our OWN out, as well as Eastern Europe -- in BLOOD and in BLOOD MONEY. Same as today.
Look what happened because of feckless leadership, phony patriots, and commie-infested traitors:
China become Communist USSR is gifted A-Bomb plans as well as our armament plans and blueprints. Eastern Europe is Enslaved The USA as well as Europe is threatened with Nuclear War for the next 45 years. The USA fights TWO phony wars, and fights them NOT to "win". The UN becomes a front for the globalist New World Order. The USA elects a Muslim-Marxist for TWO terms in 2008.
The United State of America is no more, divided in 2017, at the edge of CW2. Muslims, Marxists, Homos, and pedophiles control the US government.
Fortunately, sane heads prevailed. Patton was good at what he was asked to do. He was a good operational commander. He was a bad grand strategist - his approach would have been very costly in American lives. Ike's conservative approach sought certain victory with minimal Western casualties. And it succeeded.
It "succeeded" the way selling one's soul "succeeds" -- the piper eventually gets paid. All the PTB-assassins of Patton and JFK and the Elites "accomplished" is before you and I today.
Patton was a prescient, courageous warrior and patriot. The Appeasers "won," so now the crocodiles will eat finally, 75 years later. The Nazis and Soviets FINALLY won. Now WE, the seed and branches of the American Founders and all Free People are on the defensive, and will be until The End.
General George S. Patton -- assassinated for WHAT??
US Marxists had taken over the State Dept AND OSS AND various feral depts.
Thanks for your answer and opine on whether Patton was taken out.
As to Vic's revisionism (dunno whose source he used), I assume it was BRADLEY and Commander X who stupidly and sloppily mired US troops down in the dumb trap known as The Battle of the Bulge.
Patton RELIEVED those guys while covering SOMEBODY'S azz. If not for Patton's Army, hundreds of thouands of Americans are butchered.
I'm sure you really believe all that. You really believe that the US President was a puppet of Stalin. Your passion on the subject is clear.
It's clear that you, like Patton, would have preferred a war with the USSR as soon as the Germans surrendered.
We would have had to use nuclear weapons to win it - Soviet conventional forces were too large and too battle-hardened.
This is madness. The American people were never going to accept a US attack on the USSR. There was no will for such a war. We were "over there" to get it done and come home. And we did.
These "free countries" to which you refer include Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria - who were allied with Germany and sent troops into Russia. Why spend American lives to prevent Nazi allies from getting what was coming to them?

Take your CT kookery elsewhere tin-foiler!
Every red-blooded American knows that the OSS/CIA would never engage in such nefarious activities like assassinating Patton, running drugs from South America and Viet Nam, drugging soldiers and civilians with LSD in order to create mind-controlled killers, setting up false flags, overthrowing governments and the like.
