TheFederalistPapers: Trump Sends In The Cavalry: ATF Heads To Chicago To Clean Up The City So, yes, he is sending the BATFE to Chicago to do their jobs in enforcing federal gun laws. He only sent an extra 20 BATFE agents after initially sending a handful. Besides, this actually happened starting in February. I'm not sure that anyone noticed it until just recently but there was some reporting of it in February and in March. It's just that the media was throwing such a shitfit over Trump at the time that this story got little attention at the time. Now we're in the slow news days of summer so they're recycling this story, it seems. It's really not enough for anyone to get their panties wet about.

There are no federal gun laws. They're prohibited by the 2nd amendment. We do have a few major federal gun laws in effect and they are enforced mostly by BATFE along with some cases brought via the FBI. You can pretend otherwise if you like.
