Title: NYT Corrects Story Claiming 17 Intel Agencies ‘Agree’ On Russia

The New York Times issued a correction Thursday on an article that incorrectly claimed all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies agreed that “Russia orchestrated the attacks, and did it to help get [Trump] elected.”

The original article, published June 25, covered certain reactions that President Donald Trump gave in response to Russian cyber attacks and interactions with the 2016 presidential election.

TheNYT’s correction notes that: “The assessment was made by four intelligence agencies — the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. The assessment was not approved by all 17 organizations in the American intelligence community.”

Former candidate Hillary Clinton made the claim in late May that all 17 intelligence agencies agreed “that the Russians ran an extensive information war against my campaign to influence voters in the election.”

Former FBI Director James Comey refuted this false claim in a congressional hearing in May, stating that the assessment was only from the NSA, FBI and the CIA.

The Daily Caller News Foundation published a fact-check June 1 that rated Clinton’s claim as “False.”

Poster Comment:

A story that has ticked me off ever since I first heard it.

Most of the 17 agencies have absolutely no expertise or skill set to determine if Russia or anyone else is meddling in domestic U.S. politics.

Does anyone really think the Coast Guard's intel agency is expert on Russia hacking Hitlery's illegal email server? Do the Marine intel agency have any expertise to bring to bear? Of course not.

The all-17-agencies story was dumb as a rock from the very beginning. And yet we saw very little pushback on the credibility of this story from outlets like Breitbart or FNC.

It's a stupid stupid story and it always was.

stating that the assessment was only from the NSA, FBI and the CIA.

Well these are the only 3 that matter...
so there's no reason to get bent out of shape over whatever Hillary got wrong... she's irrelevant anyway...

Nevertheless, the investigation of Trump's potential collusion with Russia's interference remains valid, no matter what Klinton got wrong.

Not so fast. We heard Dem after Dem, gushing over "all 17 intel agencies confirm that Russia hacked or tried to hack our elections". It played for weeks, months really.

Now we finally have an admission that it was not 17 agencies (helmed by 0bama appointees). It was just three.

Yes, that is news and well-worth noting.

These were not claims made in National Enquirer or Infowars. It was the Slimes and WaPo leading the pack with plenty of supporting clips from libmedia on all their outlets. Completely phony. And they knew it all along as they kept shoveling out their #FakeNews.

Yes, stop the partisan bull manure diversions and obfuscations about a DNC hack, and investigate the LEAK to Wikileaks. Feel the bern.

Well, well, well... The Associated Press has joined the Slimes in confessing to journalistic malpractice.

AP: Clarification: Trump-Russia stories, 6/30/17

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In stories published April 6, June 2, June 26 and June 29, The Associated Press reported that all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies have agreed that Russia tried to influence the 2016 election to benefit Donald Trump. That assessment was based on information collected by three agencies - the FBI, CIA and National Security Agency - and published by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which represents all U.S. intelligence agencies. Not all 17 intelligence agencies were involved in reaching the assessment.

The AP outdid itself for weaselly reporting with that "Not all 17 intelligence agencies were involved in reaching the assessment." Which is AP's way of saying "there were never more than 3 agencies involved".

So they're still lying by trying to create a false impression, even in their "retraction".

"reported that all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies have agreed that Russia tried to influence the 2016 election to benefit Donald Trump."

I thought they tried, and failed, to hack the RNC server. So how can any intelligence agency conclude the intent of the hacks were to benefit Trump?

What happened to "The Russians hacked the election?" Now it's "The Russians tried to influence the election." At this rate, the next revised accusation will be, "The Russians watched the election returns on Fox News Channel".

Kind of like how "global warming" turned into "climate change".

It's an old trick of the Left academics. When a term they've been pushing becomes too toxic with the public, they just give it a new label, claim it's all different now, and keep going.

This is very familiar to those with experience in "education reform".

Sure. Deport the illegals, defund states/cities that subsidize or harbor them, end chain migration as well as terminating birthright citizenship for foreigners who shit a baby out on our soil so they can get a free ticket to stay in this country. Make the ending of birthright citizenship fully retroactive too.

We often work with a Divison headquarters on post.

They have a permanent UK Army liaison Major who works in their operations shop.

He was joking the other day that all he needed was a willing American lady and he could get his anchor baby.

Yeah, that's no joke. He's hinting around for an introduction. His island is on the brink of the abyss, with socialism and a polyglot population pushing hard.

I wouldn't blame him.

And we could a lot worse for immigrants than an English military guy.
