This morning, Comey claimed that at a February 12, 2017 one-on-one meeting with Trump in the Oval Office, Trump "directed" him to halt the probe into Michael Flynn. He said that's how he interpreted Trump's I hope you can let this go statement. He added that he did not halt the probe.
Less than three months after that meeting, on May 3rd, 2017, he testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. During this hearing Comey was asked specifically about being told to stop an investigation. He made it clear that "in his experience" he'd never been told to end an investigation because "It would have been a big deal".
"He made a clear distinction between voicing an opinion that an investigation is a waste of time versus told to end one. This was under oath with the penalty of perjury if he was lying." This video is a 50-second excerpt of that testimony:
"No, he was just fired. That's very common when a new administration takes over."
"Comey was speaking to FBI employees in Los Angeles when the news broke on a television, the newspaper reported. He then laughed, thinking it was a prank, the Times said. Comey "stepped into a side office, where he confirmed that he had been fired," the report added."
He's the Director of the FBI, speaking to FBI employees, when saw on TV that he was fired? That's not humiliating?
