One America News was first to report that three White House staffers have been identified for leaking classified information. The President is expected to fire multiple people upon his return from the Middle East and Europe. One America's Chief White House Correspondent Trey Yingst has more from the White House.
There's a lot about this "scoop" that makes little sense.
I don't put much stock in it.
Trump doesn't have to wait to fire them. It isn't Celebrity Apprentice where his ratings go up if he says "Ya fahd" on network TV.
The OGE is supposedly involved. It's run by Shaub who is very actively hostile to Trump. (And why hasn't Shaub already been fired anyway, along with Koskinen and a bunch of other 0bama hacks?)
And why wouldn't the DOJ be in on it instead? If they are the leakers they've been after, it's a matter of criminality. They can and should be prosecuted for leaking national security secrets repeatedly.
So I'll believe this OAN "scoop" when I see a lot more than they have at present.
The DOJ generally would be left out for the same reason very, very few were given a heads up on the Comey firing. Some of that group has been playing for the other team. Trump did not have to wait until Comey went to California, but he did. With no leaks, Team Trump captured the FBI castle intact. Just picture a team of forensic nerds examining everything they could find.
If they have identified a few leakers, they will not just be fired from their jobs but get handcuffed and take a perp walk. How long do you think it would take all the resources available to track down who has been leaking SCI?
The DOJ at the very top would be involved, AG Sessions. The leakers of classified information will not be given warnings for ethical lapses by OGE.
This announcement may, or may not, be premature. But I would bet that it will not be very long before a leaker or three is identified and prosecuted. Some leftover Never Trumpers will be exterminated. Others will get an attitude adjustment. Judgment day is coming for some leakers.
