KIEV, Dec 4 (Reuters) - European Union officials urged Ukraine on Friday to hold a free and fair presidential election in January to help it advance towards integration with Europe. The ex-Soviet state is holding on Jan. 17 its first election for president since the 2004 pro-western "Orange Revolution", against a backdrop of a poorly performing economy and tension with Russia on which it relies for energy supplies. "We expect these elections to be free and fair as has happened in the past, and after the elections that there will be a commitment for strong governance so that Ukraine can advance towards its legitimate European aspirations," European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said. Barroso was speaking at a news conference with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko after a one-day annual summit in Kiev. Yushchenko is running for re-election in January but opinion polls suggest he has little chance against Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, his fierce rival, and ex-Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich. Ah yes, January 17th, 2010, I think Ivan will re-name it "re-unification" day. And NATO and the whore also known as the EU will sit there with their dicks in their hands wondering what became of their NECON dream of global domination. Suckers!
Free and fair elections in Ukraine? Let's see, Yulia Tymoshenko, the Mafia Gas Princess is running for president. The beautiful Tymoshinko went from a local video store owner to multi billionaire by stealing gas from the Russians and selling it on the open market to EU countries. Elections will be free and fair only if Tymoshenko wins. :(
I'd like to see free and fair elections in America. A election where there were viable candidates other than the usual suspects picked by the insiders of both branches of the ruling party,and where such crap as motor voter and election laws so slack or ignored that in some states the Dim candidate gets MORE than 100% of the black vote. A election where a outsider can run without both branches of the ruling party being able to get together with the media to destroy them before the typical voter even knows who they are.
Behind that subtle smile are 50 personal ex-Spetsnaz body guards.
