Jalen Perez, 20, confessed to making three social media accounts to trick her friends A 20-year-old college student accused of sexual assault confessed to catfishing her friends and using one of a fake social media account to convince them she did nothing wrong. Jalen Perez made three fake accounts to pose as male students at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She told police on April 6 the first two accounts were created to find out her friends' opinions of her and the third was created so it looked like she was talking to a boy. One of the women Perez admitted to catfishing accused her of sexually assaulting her while she was drunk, according to an affidavit obtained by Fox31. The alleged victim said she remembers Perez inserting her fingers into her and climbing on top of her after a party in September. At the party, Perez reportedly kept asking if the victim was 'blacked' and said later she would be mad if she wasn't blacked out. The next day, Perez kept asking her what she remembered about that night. Perez told police the only sexual activity between the 'best friends' that night was a 'weird kiss.' The victim was then reportedly convinced by one of the fake personas created by Perez to not report what happened that night. 'He' tried to convince the victim Perez had done nothing wrong. The friends started noticing the accounts were fake when they would mention a song to the catfish accounts then Perez would start listening to it on her Spotify. Perez confessed to posing as male students at Colorado State University. Her friends noticed something was wrong when the men weren't in the student directory Perez was also the only person to ever meet these men in real life. One of them claimed he was in a fraternity, but none of the students in that fraternity knew him. They were also suspicious because the two men would only message them through the app Pinger. When the friends asked for their numbers, the 'students' would say it would only be given to them when they met in person. The two friends also could not find the fake men in the CSU student directory. The friend reported the sexual assault in February after piecing together the extent of the catfishing. Perez is facing one charge of sexual assault and two counts of stalking.
