Roman Polanski just lost his bid to return to the United States without fear of prison. Polanski's lawyer, Harland Braun, has asked an L.A. County Superior Court judge to unseal a secret transcript of the testimony of the prosecutor in the Polanski case, proving the original trial judge back in 1978 accepted a plea deal for a 48-day sentence ... this for raping a 13-year-old girl. Polanski served the time but the judge denied he ever accepted the deal and was considering a 50-year prison sentence. The famed director went on the lam and has been living in Europe ever since. Braun made the case his client -- who was married to Manson murder victim Sharon Tate -- was also jailed in Switzerland for 334 days. A Polish court said all tolled, Polanski had served his time and Braun wanted the new judge to accept that ruling so the 83-year-old director could return to the U.S. The new judge did not agree, saying Polanski had no right to gripe about the sentence when he was in contempt of court for fleeing the country decades ago. The judge also scoffed at Polanski's request for guidance on how to come back to the country with assurance his sentence had been fulfilled.

All tolled? Good grief. We're doomed.
Might be a legitimate use of a legal term. toll v. 1) to delay, suspend or hold off the effect of a statute. Examples: a minor is injured in an accident when he is 14 years old, and the state law (statute of limitations) allows a person hurt by negligence two years to file suit for damages. But for a minor the statute is "tolled" until he/she becomes 18 and decides whether or not to sue. Thus the minor has two years after 18 to file suit. State law allows 10 years to collect a judgment, but if the judgment debtor (party who owes the judgment amount) leaves the state the time is "tolled," so the judgment creditor (party to whom judgment is owed) will have extra time to enforce the judgment equal to the time the debtor was out of state. 2) a charge to pass over land, use a toll road or turnpike, cross a bridge, or take passage on a ferry.

There is no debate to be had on this matter. Of course, this is a homonymic error, the bugaboo of people raised to trust their spellcheckers. At any rate, I am very glad to hear that pedophile rapist, Polanski, will not be allowed to return to Hollyweird so they can throw big parties and celebrations for him. The Hollyweirdos love Polanski and want him let off as much as they hate Trump.

They certainly make no secret of it. A year or two back, at some awards show (Oscars?), they went all out praising him, demanding his return, etc. I'm kinda surprised they didn't get 0bama to issue a full pardon. I don't doubt that they tried for it. But, hell, even 0bama has two teenage daughters.
