Until now I have pretty much stayed on the sidelines of politics. But I need to change that because in my books I urge all Christians to get involved in politics. So I figure it is high time I got involved in politics because the last time I got actively involved was when I campaigned for Reagan.

Anyhow, the news today is that Trump tweeted about the Freedom Caucus, "we must defeat them and the dems." I did a little research and read they are a group of Libertarians and far-right conservatives and most of them are from Texas. And actually I am good friends with one of them (Dr. Ron Paul). But ironically, his son who leads the Freedom Caucus, I really don't like much. And especially his foreign policy. But now I have to also say I don't like the fact that he and his buddies are blocking Trumpcare. After everything is said, it's better than Obamacare by a longshot.

OK, that's it. Any comments?

Yes I have two comments. First Ron Paul is not a member of the freedom caucus. Secondly neither is Rand Paul, so he cannot be their leader.

Bubba, if you are going to post something....get the facts straight.

Only some of the members of the Freedom Caucus are libertarians and Rand Paul is not the leader of the Freedom Caucus....although he meets with the Freedom Caucus frequently to plan strategy.

Well, I just read, on wikipedia I think, that the freedom caucus is made up of libertarians and far-right conservatives. And since Rand Paul is the ring- leader of the Libertarians I naturally assumed he was part of the freedom caucus. Guess not. But my point is, Rand Paul is the main guy that blocked TrumpCare. And that put's him, in my book at least, in the same boat with the Freedom Caucus. And I'm pretty sure Trump also had Rand Paul in mind in his tweet. Let's stick with the issue please which is Trump Care.

I read something on Wikipedia that implied generally the same thing.

I then checked and found only a few [2 or 3, maybe a couple more] of the Freedom Caucus members are libertarians.

You need to double check information you read on Wikipedia.

And since Rand Paul is the ring-leader of the Libertarians I naturally assumed he was part of the freedom caucus. Guess not.
There is no “Ring of Libertarians” [for Rand Paul to be the leader of] in congress that I have ever found.

Also, there is no “Libertarian Caucus” for Rand Paul to lead.

You really should “stop guessing” at anything and “get facts.”

But my point is, Rand Paul is the main guy that blocked TrumpCare. And that put's him, in my book at least, in the same boat with the Freedom Caucus.
Your “point” is WRONG.

Rand Paul expressed opposition to the ACHA, but he was not the “main guy that blocked it.”

And I'm pretty sure Trump also had Rand Paul in mind in his tweet.
Since you have been “wrong on everything” thus far….how can you be “pretty sure” on this, or anything else?
Let's stick with the issue please which is Trump Care.
No, let’s stick with the issue, please….which is “FACTS.”

Well, I just read, on wikipedia I think, that the freedom caucus is made up of libertarians and far-right conservatives.

The only two prominent libertarian-ish members of the House are Justin Amash and Thomas Massie who are both in Freedom Caucus where, assuming the reports of 36 members are accurate, they comprise slightly more than 6% of members of Freedom Caucus.

Ron Paul had his own Liberty Caucus of 20-25 members for years in the House which generally met for weekly working lunches. However, Rand was the first prominent Tea Party senator who was aggressive and the House GOP loved having him come speak to them and have him available to offer matching legislation in the Senate to what they wanted to introduce in the House.

Rand Paul is in the Senate where there are none of these sub-caucuses such as the ones we see in the House (like Freedom Caucus or the defunct Liberty Caucus) or the quasi-caucus groups like the RINO's Tuesday Group and Mainstreet Alliance and the conservative Republican Study Committee.

The House Liberty Caucus (HLC) is a congressional member organization in the U.S. House of Representatives dedicated to the principles of limited government, economic freedom, and individual liberty.

HLC is chaired by Rep. Justin Amash (MI-03).
