According to [her father], the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable [when she went to school in HI]: "They were a minority type thing and it wasn't glamorous, so she came home." Wow. Is this woman's head, and the Republicans who support her, filled with rocks or something?

Don't much care what they say,the DNA doesn't lie. Most American Indian tribes are thought to be genetically Asian,also. If you REALLY want to start a uproar,go to one of the "I am a professional victim" Indian web sites and post that,and see the howls of outrage. Everybody is afraid of losing their "I am a minority victim" status.
Inuits and Asians are two different peoples. Alaskans like Canadians do not consider thme Asian. If Palin has an Inuit problem then she's got a problem with her husband...

It's late,I'm tired,and it's been a long time since I researched this,but the Asians crossed the land bridge from Europe. The ones that kept going became Asians. The slackers that stopped part way became Eskimos. How bleeping lazy and lacking in ambition do you have to be to not walk out of the snow and ice like everybody else did?
If they were slackers, they would never have survived. The Eskimos have to be some of the toughest most resourceful people in the world.
Yeah,they must be really smart and ambitious people. That's why they stopped where they were to live on sheets of ice instead of walking south like everybody else.
Resourceful, tough and smart enough to survive in a hostile environment. How long do you think most people in the world would survive in the Arctic?

Some people just don't care for snakes, spiders, cockroaches, fireants, rats, skunks, 'coons, possums, sweating all day, air-conditioning and crowds.
How would they have know anything about any of this 20,000 years ago when they decided to park it on the ice and eat blubber? As far as that goes,how do they know anything about it today,other than by rumor? If there has ever been a group of people with less ambition,I'm not aware of them. BTW,don't get me wrong on this. If they want to live a pre-historic life,that's fine with me. Just don't try to sell me on it's alleged "nobility".

They don't "use" dog teams anywhere any more, it all snowmachines, (not F ing snow"mobiles" btw).
Really? I've always heard them called snowmobiles. I have a old car buddy in ND that collects and restores them and antique chainsaws. You should see the size of some of the chainsaws!
LOL! yes really. BUT that is a particular thing about what Alaska and Alaskans have always called them. They are known as snow"mobiles" almost everywhere else in the world. The newspapers style books here have snow"machine" vice snow"mobile" as common usage here. I'm familiar with antique chainsaws. Their sizes and weights sure makes you reconsider what "portable" means eh pete? I guess just about anything beats the 'ol two man "misery whip"? In fact whenever I feel "whiney" about cutting my wood, (with my kick a$$ modern STIHL/Husky/Echo chainsaws), I remember the old timers who did it ALL with hand saws. People are as tough as they have to be, and it's sure nice to have a choice. BTW; if you had ever spent any real time working out on the slope with modern gear and techniques, you'd understand that "stupid and lazy" are absurd words to describe a culture that lived a strictly subsistance lifestyle in THAT environment. But you are sure correct that some cultures are superior to others, and almost any industrialized culture is alot more advanced than ANY hunter gatherer culture when it comes to the lifestyles of it's people.
That's true,and it is normally a very human thing for parents to want their children to have happier,healthier,and more comfortable and successful lives than them. When you have a whole culture with the mindset that doing things today like they were done 1000 or even 10,000 years ago is good enough,that is a failed culture.
Well imo pete having been here for many decades, you are correct that the motives for this "my culture is nobel you stinking white man" thing is simply a method to insure their own special treatment. For instance in Bethel, (the hub of the Y K delta), the feds have a HUGE "native" health care facility that no non "native" can get any care at, even if they are bleeding out. It IS a totally one "race" over all other "races" thing.
I think a more accurate way to express it would be to say "It's always one race UNDER all other races,and that race is composed entirely of white people." It's nothing but reverse slavery,with Big Brother Government serving as Big Massa Government.
