Kushner to lead White House innovation office: report

© Getty Images

President Trump is reportedly creating a new White House innovation office that will be led by his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.

The White House Office of American Innovation will be announced Monday, the Washington Post reported, and will report directly to the president. The idea is to help meet some of the goals President Trump pledged to accomplish during his campaign, such as working to help with veteran care and fight opioid addiction.

The new office, which is described in the Post report as a “SWAT team” to fix the federal bureaucracy, is working with tech giants such as Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. It is expected to pull ideas from the business world and may consider privatizing some government functions.

The team will include former business executives, according to the report.

“We should have excellence in government,” Kushner told the Post. “The government should be run like a great American company. Our hope is that we can achieve successes and efficiencies for our customers, who are the citizens.”

Ivanka Trump will also play a role with the new innovation office, helping with workforce development, according to the report. But though the first daughter has joined the administration, she will not have an official title within the office.

Kushner, who works as a senior adviser to Trump on foreign relations, has come under scrutiny by Democrats who have raised conflict-of-interest concerns over Kushner’s real-estate project with a Chinese firm. (1 image)

Yeesh. Why does he have to have family members work for him like this? It's kinda creepy.

As with Chelsea Xlinton, other than being born, what is their qualification for these jobs anyway?

Bill Gates ceased to be an innovater in the early 90's when he became more oriented toward becoming a socialist gadfly.

Democrats are baby-killing demon spawn shitheads. Who cares about their "scrutiny". Prosecute them and cut their tongues out.

Yeesh. Why does he have to have family members work for him like this? It's kinda creepy.

Because they are accomplished people he can trust. Democrats and Republicans who used to be his friends stabbed him in the back. He needs people he can trust, who will keep his confidence, as his inner circle. And experience has shown him that the people he can trust the most are his family. What is more, his daughter and son-in-law have shown him that they're not just trustworthy, but smart - that their advice is good.

So, Ivanka and Kushner are perfect advisors. Smart, wise, and completely, unquestionably loyal. Ivanka is more loyal to her father than anybody else on earth, and she's a brilliant and poised woman - he is smart to have her as his closest advisor. She has his best interests completely at heart, and can talk to him with full-faced honesty and without fear. That's a good thing for Trump, and for us, because he raised her well, she's not crazy, loopy, stupid or inappropriate - she is grounded, and she grounds her father.

The husband comes along with the package, but he's quite accomplished himself, and well connected.

Ivanka and Kushner are the perfect innermost circle for Trump.

Ivanka has no particular talents any greater than Chelsea Xlinton. They both had the good taste to choose to be born to wealth and power and have a bunch of cosmetic surgery.

Jared Kushner was another trust-fund baby whose jailbird daddy was another NJ/NY Democrat real estate tycoon.

What exactly have either of them ever accomplished other than being born to a tycoon daddy?

Make a list of their many accomplishments for me.

Just admit they never accomplished anything except being a squirt of jizz out of their tycoon daddies' peepees and that they lack any other qualifications for public office, let alone top-level security clearances.

Ivanka's big accomplishment was arranging a meeting between Al Gore and her daddy at Trump towers.

She deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

She's also advocating for Trump to embrace the climate change agenda and the Paris treaty (instead of fulfilling his promise to pull out).

She also advocates greatly expanded maternal and paternal leave, an entirely new and very expensive entitlement even the Dems never attempted to pass.

She's a Democrat. And still they hate her.

She's right about that. Single payer, universal health insurance with guaranteed coverage and no preconditions - necessary. If we want to have babies again and not simply be overrun by Hispanics and lose our country, we need to make things a helluva lot easier on white middle and lower class families trying to have families. We need to subsidize white American childbirth, through transfer payments to the middle and working classes.

If we won't, then we will be Latin America soon enough.

She favors leaves of six months to a year. Multiple leaves for both parents. Paid.

Like I said, even the Dims never tried for that.

Good. We have to provide strong incentives for middle class and working class white people to have lots of children, or we will lose our country.

The incentives are already there for the ghetto poor, and the illegal immigrants don't need incentives - they like large families and they're accustomed to a lower standard of living.

Family leave is a very middle/upper middle class benefit - the bigger and better the job, the better the benefit, because it's the very high stress, high pay jobs where the high achievers are, and they reduce their childbearing to stay on the economic horse. Incentivize them to have kids, and you'll have a whole lot more high achieving middle class white kids, and the demographics will shift in a healthy direction politically and socially.

The French and the Scandinavians do this, and they have higher white birth rates than we do. You get more of what you subsidize. Subsidizing white middle class European babies is a very smart thing to do, if you want to have a European/Western future.

I'd prefer to have that future, as would most conservative Americans. They're just caught between two desires: to retain the culture, and to retain an economic model that abhors helping people with things like this. Thus far, the latter sentiment has prevailed. The net result in the US is that we are turning into Los Estados Unidos Norte Americanos.

The result for Europe will be Sharia 2060.

It is all preventable by incentivizing a heavy white birth rate. You do that with middle class incentives - time off work and economic security in exchange for the babies who will preserve the culture.

For me, of course, being Catholic, I'm less alarmed at the Hispanicization of America than most white conservatives. So I view it as a moral test: do middle class conservative whites love money more than they love their country, their culture and their religion and fellow countrymen.

As near as I can tell, yes, and the Ryancare fiasco regarding Obamacare rather proves it. Trump is oppositely minded, so we'll see.
