the Republican Senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul, has tweeted out that he is currently being blocked by armed guards from viewing new, and the secretly kept Obamacare bill.
It was hours earlier that Paul tweeted that he heard that the Obamacare bill, being touted as Obamacare-lite by critics, is under lock & key, in a secure location, & not available for me or the public to view.
I have been told that the House Obamacare bill is under lock & key, in a secure location, & not available for me or the public to view.
Upon his arrival at a House hideaway in the Capitol, Paul claimed he was told he could not remove the bill and make it public. The Senator then held an impromptu press conference for media complaining about House Republicans lack of transparency, reports Politico.
Politico reports that Paul had an exchange with a staffer as he tried to make off with the draft bill, which could be voted on later this month.
I said I liked to get a copy and they said no go. She wouldnt tell us anything really, Paul said in an interview afterward. Even if I were allowed to look at it, which it didnt look like I was, how is that democracy?
Republican aides said they believed the room on the first floor of the Capitol is being used for Energy and Commerce members to read the bill. Rep. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.), a committee member, said he was also not able to read the bill and was told it was not available, explains Politico.
Its literally illegal in my state to do that, Paul said in the interview. You can understand for national security why we do it. But for goodness sakes for a healthcare bill? Its crazy.
The battle for transparency is likely a case that will leave those who want honest repeal of Obamacare completed, either an entire replacement of the legislation or a complete scrapping of it, not a watered down Obamacare-lite version which would keep key provisions of the old bill.
The plans for blowing up the Death Star were less closely guarded than the Republican replace and repeal bill. https://t.co/jwPQMyF0y8
Rand Paul Blocked By Armed Guards From New Obamacare Bill (Secure Location, Not Available)
As he should have been
This article in nothing more than a promotional propaganda libertarian hit piece .and a very weak one at that.
What we see here is simply Rand Paul once again grandstanding to display his ostentatious behavior and speech intended to impress people like he once tried to do when exercising a rare talking filibuster that has not been seen in years .his filibuster that proved to be a waste of time because he accomplished nothing when other national issues confronted the Senate.
The republican health care overhaul in the house is still a work in progress since House Republicans cannot agree on some details or cost estimates. What is behind that closed door that Rand is being so anus about is simply a rough sketch of the massive health care overhaul that was unveiled to all rank-and- file Republican member of Congress on February 18.
There is no new Obamacare bill as the Libertarian Republic so biasedly and dishonestly labeled it. So far, there is only a broad vision for voiding much of Obamas ACA and replacing it with conservative policies, as the work in progress was described by Ryan at a closed-door meeting in the Capitol basement in late February. The work in progress features a carefully revamped Medicaid program for the poor, tax breaks to help people pay doctors bills and federally subsidized state pools to assist those folks with costly medical conditions in buying insurance.
There is no single bill that Rand Paul wants to see. There are still different ideas options and many are controversial including the one being pushed by Ryan to replace the tax increases in Obamas law.
Some Senate Republicans have criticized a House Republican plan to change how corporations are taxed and in mid-January Rand Paul announced he is drafting a new healthcare care plan to replace the ACA.
I would think since the working bill has already been made available to all rank-and-file House Members that Rand Paul already knew exactly what is in the House working bill he therefore didnt go on a mission in search of information.
So, Rand Paul charging from the Senate over to the House, dragging his little portable copy machine behind him, in search of the work in progress house bill was not on a search for information .Rand was on a search and destroy mission to pour water on the powder in the House Republican ammunition bag they are loading.
Why should the House Republicans allow a copy of a work in progress bill under constant change to be floated in public by Rand Paul just so Rand can use it to promote Rands own version of the bill?
There is no reason they should .and they didnt.
So, a pouting Rand Paul had to drag his butt back over to the Senate, pulling his little portable copy machine behind him [but not before he made sure all cameras were on him], where he should keep his grandstanding ass on the Senate side to do his job there and stop haranguing the House members with the continuing display of a six-year-old spoiled child temperament .so typical of libertarians.
You're one of the biggest braggarts on the site and a master at self- aggrandizement.
Nah!
When I forcefully speak the truth .that is not being a braggart.
It behooves every clear thinking democracy loving individual to forcefully speak out against fake news, lies and spin from you Paultard libertarian misguided individuals.
I consider it a duty and a responsibility to say something .it is incumbent on me to do everything within my power to snatch ignorant people like you from the politically dangerous predicaments you always get yourselves into.
It is my personal concern for you and because of the alarmingly dangerous state that you as a libertarian believer find yourself in .I therefore urge you to take immediate and fast-acting measures to deliver yourself to accepting the truth and be rescued from your untenable predicament.
The framers of the US Constitution forcefully rejected Democracy, or the mob rule which you favor. They gave us a Republic.
WTF are you talking about .idiot?
You need to explain how your statement correlates in either a complementary, parallel, or reciprocal relation when I said:
It behooves every clear thinking democracy loving individual to forcefully speak out against fake news, lies and spin from you Paultard libertarian misguided individuals.
You cant do that .I understand.
Thank you for explaining why you hate America.
How does when I say that: It behooves every clear thinking democracy loving individual to forcefully speak out against fake news, lies and spin from you Paultard libertarian misguided individuals explain anything about hating America?
You want a 51% or more majority, to oppress and enslave America.
Just exactly where did I say I want a 51% majority to oppress and enslave America, show me .YOU CANT. That is a phrase you just pulled out of your ass while trying unsuccessfully to attack me.
You want a 51% or more majority .NOT going to happen!
Since you obviously are too dumb to understand squat .let me try to undertake the difficult and probably unachievable task of educating you on the voting rules in the Senate and the House.
You may be surprised to learn that the voting rules haven't changed in a few decades, but the customs have. In both the Senate and the House, you still need a majority (50%+1) to pass a bill and in the House, that's the only consideration.
However, the rules in the Senate are a bit more complex. If the bill makes it to a vote, it needs only 51 votes. But you can debate as long as you wish before it goes to a vote. You can force someone to stop deliberating by a cloture vote and that takes 60 votes.
But you need to debate before it gets to a vote. The Senate fancies itself the "world's greatest deliberative body", and they'll deliberate as long as somebody wants to. You can force them to stop deliberating by a cloture vote, and that takes 60 votes.
It took 67 votes at one time to invoke cloture. That was changed in 1975 so that it wasn't just a talking contest. when that happened, it became possible to block any measure forever if you had 41 Senators. This was done rarely for a long time, not because of the rules but because of the customs. In recent years, the use of filibusters has spiked, and it is now considered essentially mandatory on any bill except the most banal.
So ignorant one, it ONLY takes 51 votes to pass a bill in the Senate and the House .and it takes 60 votes to stop someone in the Senate from filibustering .to pass a bill with 51 votes.
Why are you such a clumsy bungling dumb cluck?
Oh, I know .you are a Gary Johnson libertarian freak, and that explains it.
