The Trump administration isn’t messing around. On Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained 22-year-old Daniela Vargas shortly after she spoke out about her (illegal) immigration status at a press conference in Jackson, Mississippi. “The press conference was hosted by local churches, immigration attorneys and the Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance to speak about recently deported families,” reports The Daily Caller. Vargas is an Argentine national who came to the United States when she was seven years old. She resided in the States illegally until the Obama administration provided her legal protections under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. But Vargas’ protections have now expired, leaving her vulnerable to deportation. In an interview with The Clarion Ledger, Vargas’ attorney, Abby Petersen claimed that ICE agents spontaneously pulled Vargas’ vehicle over shortly after her high-profile press conference. “You know who we are, you know what we’re here for,” ICE agents told Vargas, according to the illegal alien’s attorney. Wasn't there an adage about people in glass houses, I guess it doesn't translate into spanish. Abby Petersen claimed that ICE agents spontaneously pulled Vargas’ vehicle over shortly after her high-profile press conference. Spontaneously? if they were doing their job they knew who she was before she spoke, but a good way to identify illegals, wait till they protest
I had the impression that ICE went after her because someone in their office saw the press conference and they rolled out and arrested her as she left the protest in someone else's vehicle. Apparently, her father and brother are already in ICE custody. She was present but hid when they got arrested. Since then, as I understand it, her own DACA has lapsed, leaving her subject to deportation along with them.

Apparently, she was designated to be deported without any further hearing. Her lawyers were hastily trying to file appeals. I haven't heard whether she got shipped out or not. Nothing more about her father/brother either.
