SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A Camillus man accused in a hit and run accident that injured a teenager Tuesday night has pleaded not guilty. Court documents obtained by CNYCentral allege James Draveck had "numerous alcoholic beverages at his dental office" before getting behind the wheel Tuesday night. The court document says Draveck's vehicle struck the victim as he walked in the roadway, causing serious physical injuries.
The victim, who Syracuse Police have identified as 15-year-old Anthony LaPorte, was left unconscious in the roadway, and Draveck made no attempt to render aid or call for help, according to the court document.
Syracuse Police said LaPorte is currently listed in stable condition as he recovers at Upstate University Hospital.
Draveck pleaded not guilty to DWI, leaving the scene of a serious personal injury crash, and vehicular assault in Syracuse City Court Wednesday morning. After entering his plea, Draveck was taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center. He has since been released on $7,500 bail.
Police say a 15-year-old was the victim, suffering a broken leg and injuries to his head and face when he was struck by a car in the 300 block of Bear Street Tuesday evening.
