politics and politicians Title: Stop What You are Doing and Watch One of the Greatest Pro-Life Speeches in History Thousands of people came to witness the March for Life held in Washington D.C. this weekend. The media ignored this powerful speech that brought many to tears. This speech was given by Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah) who said, “Every time we kill a child through abortion, we kill our potential.” She spoke about these missing children, who are not given the chance to live. They could have gone on to become astronauts, teachers, or doctors. They could have been people who take us to new heights and new spaces. This is why abortion is wrong, not only does an abortion kill the child and the potential they are destined with, but the wonders they can bring to the world. Too many corporations that profit on this violent attack on women’s uteruses and the life that is nurtured within them. Organizations like Planned Parenthood are trying to convince women that they will be stronger and more empowered if they choose to not have a child. But a child is not something that should be cast aside, especially not just so that you can live a life without responsibility. It is not the child’s fault that you are faced with parenthood, it is your own. Love’s speech inspired many. She did not attack those who choose to abort, instead she fought for the children who have no say in the matter. She fought for the millions of lives that are not even considered lives by many. The women who participated at the Women’s March think that their ability to have an abortion gives them freedom, or “a say” over their own bodies. But the fact of the matter is, it doesn’t. An abortion is an albatross around your neck. It’s a heavy burden that you have to live with for the rest of your life, an aching absence that will never be filled. And if you have a baby, you still have a say over your own body. Temporarily, you share your body with a tiny human life, who is completely reliant on you. It is a magical gift, not a horrible violation. When you raise that child, you have a say over what happens in your life and someone else’s. Few of us know how it feels to be a child who was not necessarily wanted. Some children survive abortions and I’m sure they will tell you that they are happy to be alive. Some children were almost aborted, but are carried and adopted at birth instead. These people are happy to live and be in this world, to have a chance. THIS is a message of love, unlike the messages spoken at the Women’s March. This is a message of empowerment and hope. Every single woman in the world needs to hear it.
