As expected, Jim Robinson's site has crashed this morning an hour before the swearing-in ceremony. I don't know what people expect for a measly $352,000 per year, but apparently not enough bandwidth to host a much larger than expected number of logins. A decade of this same schtick has either taught them nothing, or taught them that there's fundraising grift money in it ("Oh, woe is us - we can't afford the necessary upgrades to our Windows XP Server! And breadsticks."). Millions of dollars over the years and users still can't even go back in to correct/edit/update postings, either. What a racket, huh? Hello? Anybody out there?

I totally agree, the time it takes to just read comments is quite off putting. You can click and go to the bathroom as it loads.

The money has been coming in fast enough. New Freepathons have been starting just as old ones are ending. It's getting to the point where there is a year-round non-stop demand for donations. For weeks, the functioning of the site has been cut back to convince users that there is need for more funds. The result has been a loss of traffic rather than put up with purposeful disfunction and blackmail.
What! This old song? Not again.
Freepathon Time. AND the biggest Inauguration EVER!! So what happens?? Like clockwork, FR wuz hacked again!! (OH WAIT) $352,000 per years. IN-EX-CUSABLE. FR: Still powered by Hamster-Wheel technology, rubber bands, and beer. Some things never change. Did John Rob apologize and promise to travel to their secret server hideout to replace the dead hamster(s)? And are Freepers enraged that on THE biggest day in 8 years, Free Republic is pathetically limping on Facebook instead? I note that a few brown-nosers are pretending that the same chatroom software, circa 1999 that's died every year, TWICE a year, isn't a problem today, bless their hearts. I'm sure those who donate should expect a refund. Douglas Preidis FR is down but we are not out.... "Thank you, Jim, for letting me on this Facebook page. It's still dead as a doornail. This is Soviet-level, or democRat-level, reliability. Reminds me of the Odumbasscare website rollout. Why the hell do they keep their alleged 'server' so far from home if there's nobody local entrusted to keep the hamster inside the wheel for quick turnarounds? You probably have to get some toady to post warmly approving Zot pix as you ban some of the membership. It does work for RimJob. Also, you need to get Neil onboard to stage some carefully-timed "server outages".
