On Wednesday, a female student at Seminole High School told her father she "made a bad choice" and "wasn't feeling well" after eating a drug-filled edible. The student that allegedly sold her the gummies was identified as a 16- year-old classmate.
School officials searched the boy and found him "in the possession of two gummy squares that were packaged in separate, small Ziploc bags."
Shortly after, Sanford police arrested the teenager.
"There are indications that this wasn't an isolated incident. That it's a possibility there are more of these gummies out there that are circulating in our community," said Bianca Gillett with the Sanford Police Department.
That possibility has many families in the area concerned.
Courtney Nelson regularly picks her freshman sister up from Seminole High School. She worries her younger sibling could accidentally indulge.
"It could have happened to anybody, said Nelson. What if you just take some type of gummy that somebody gives you in class?"
WESH 2 News went to the suspect's house to see if the teenager would provide his side of the story. However, no one in the neighborhood would talk.
The teenager possessed more than 20 grams of marijuana, which is a felony.
