Fort Worth, TX An innocent man was shot in the back by police, arrested, charged with assaulting THEM, is now paralyzed for the rest of his life and police call this justice.
After David Collie watched the video of a Fort Worth police officer assault and arrest an innocent mother and her children who called police after her 7-year-old son was choked by a neighbor, he decided to release the video of his encounter with Fort Worth cops.
Unfortunately, what weve seen from the Fort Worth police officer in that video is not an isolated incident. Many members of our community have been assaulted, handled roughly by Fort Worth police officers, Collies attorney, Nate Washington said. To be clear, we believe the vast majority of police officers are good and decent people.
The terrifying video shows police officers pull up to Collies apartment complex, get out of their cruiser, and immediately shoot him in the back. One officer is seen holding a blinding flashlight on Collie while another fears for his life and squeezes off a round, severing Collies spine.
Police were looking for two armed men that night, who allegedly robbed someone they met online to purchase an item. However, Collie did not fit the description, notes his attorney.
According to police, Collie walked away from them and refused their commands to put his hands up. Officers then claim that Collie pulled out a silver box cutter and pointed it at them. "Fearing for his life", the Fort Worth police officer shot him in the lower torso, according to the Fort Worth statement.
The video does not show a box cutter.
While Washington agrees that there was a box cutter discovered on the scene over ten feet from where Collie was shot he says the police account of Collie threatening cops with it, is fictitious. And, the video backs him up.
When speaking of the video, I wasnt there that night. I do know what I saw. I know I never saw this man with a weapon. I never saw this man advance toward the officers. I know I saw him get shot in his back.
Collie would spend the next two months chained to a hospital bed fighting for his life after police arrested and charged him with aggravated assault on a public servant. When a grand jury heard his case and watched the video, they refused to indict him.
Since the shooting, which happened in July, police havent released any of the records on a potential investigation of the officers involved and have kept Collie and his attorney in the dark.
The process that they ask us to trust is essentially, Let us do what we want to do, we will not be transparent at all, and then well tell you what we concluded,' Washington said of the police response to an innocent man being paralyzed for the rest of his life after cops wrongly shot him in the back.
There are conflicting reports in the different city police reports they have written, they have various different narratives and theyre inconsistent, Washington said.
Collie has yet to file a lawsuit against the Fort Worth police department, but Washington noted they are considering one. He also noted that after they released this video, others began to come forward.
Weve gotten calls from attorneys across the city, who said, I have videos as well, I have photographs of what happened to my client, and so were investigating the culture and the practice of the City of Fort Worth, Washington said.
We want justice for David. We want change, Washington stated, adding, but we also want peace and calm from the community after they see this video.
For the rest of his life, David Collie will be in a wheelchair. And, he will have to live with the fact that people who claim to protect society put him there.

The vid seems very clear in showing an unjustified shooting. The city is not releasing info for fear of aiding a massive civil suit. Though I don't know why they'd be merely considering a suit instead of doing one. Maybe they are trying to bait the police into an offer.

Police were called to the area because a black man with no shirt robbed someone at gunpoint. When the police arrived, they saw a black man with no shirt (David Collie) who refused their commands to stop, then turned and displayed a "silver object" which police believed to be the gun used in the robbery.
They didn't know it was a box cutter until they found it afterwards.
Look at the the mans hands and his demeanor. Its dark, his left hand hidden looking like he was about to run or pull a weapon. When an officer says stop you stop! At night you double down on not moving or acting like you about to do something stupid.
As my father said nothing good happens at night.
He sure dresses up nice. They should have had him come in like he was dressed that night!
Correct. That's called "taking care of your family".
It goes like this. Cops show up, you walk away, they shoot and kill your sorry ass. Then your family sues the city and settles for a million dollars. Voilà! You've taken care of your family -- the only way you're able.
Sentence? You mean skip the Grand Jury, the charges, the trial and the jury verdict and go right to sentencing?
You know how liberals always preach tolerance... but those filthy assholes are the most intolerant scumbags breathing? Well, same shit with LIBERALterians. They preach due process and constitutional rights for the accused... unless the accused is a cop.
Hypocrisy... its a filthy fucking libtard/PAULTARD thing.
I'm the infidel... Allah warned you about. كافر المسلح
"Sentence the cop for wanton homocide and the people who hired him as accomplices!"
Sentence? You mean skip the Grand Jury, the charges, the trial and the jury verdict and go right to sentencing?
The photographs and video were evidence enough. There is no need for corrupt judges and lawyers to attempt to prove how brilliant they are by obscuring the evidence and brainwashing a confused jury.
They didn't know it was a box cutter until they found it afterwards.
If you carry a box knife or a pocket knife or shiny coin you should be shot. It would be justice. Reaping what your incredibly stupid mouth spews day after day. Ok not really but if it did happen you would be saying you deserved it except you wouldn't be to because you would be dead.
You have no idea why the police are confronting you. In this case, they were looking for two armed men who had just robbed someone.
So when you ignore their commands and turn with a shiny object in your hand, at night, yeah, you can expect something bad to happen.
Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.
The police decided to ASSUME he was the right person because he had a shirt off. Lots of people have shirts off. That is no excuse.
If he had a shirt on and was black asswipes like you would say he was black. You always make an excuse. The police need to quit making assumptions. They assumed now the guy is paralyzed. They were lazy in just assuming he was the right guy.
Because you are an arab and you just want to see non arabs die.
