Remember when Mark Cuban said a Trump win would result in an imminent Stock Market crash? Well it turns out just the OPPOSITE happened. Optimism is SOARING! From CBS News The index measures consumers’ assessment of current conditions, which dipped from November but was still very positive, and their expectations for the future, which hit a 13-year high. Lynn Franco, director of economic indicators at the Conference Board, said the “post-election surge in optimism” was strongest among older Americans. The U.S. economy grew at a 3.5 percent annual pace from July to September, fastest in two years. Unemployment is at a nine-year low of 4.6 percent. Employers have added 180,000 jobs a month this year, down from an average 229,000 in 2015 but still solid. Economists monitor consumers’ mood closely because their spending accounts for about 70 percent of U.S. economic output. WASHINGTON — American consumers are the sunniest they’ve been in more than 15 years. The Conference Board said Tuesday that its consumer confidence index climbed to 113.7 in December, up from 109.4 in November and the highest since it reached 114 in August 2001. It’s another sign consumers are confident in the aftermath of a divisive election campaign.

Record 95,102,000 Americans Not in Labor Force; Unemployment Rate more like 30% In December, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a record 95,102,000 Americans were not in the labor force, 47,000 more than in November. Hmmm.. They said the unemployment rate was 4.7%! How can that be! The U.S. population is only about 325,340,300 people! As explained above, the “official” number only calculates the number of unemployed persons as a percent of the civilian labor force. So, let’s now take the amount of folks who are not in the labor force and get the percentage of the population that this group accounts for. (I’ll use a calculator just so I know Obama never lied to me!) *GASP The reality of the unemployment situation inside the U.S. is much more grim than any politician or bureaucrat would ever want to admit. And just to highlight how bad the situation is, those people counted as “not in the labor force” qualify to be a part of that statistic because they are no longer looking for work. Do your figures include babies and 80 year olds?
It includes working age individuals. BLS employment statistics are based on the civilian noninstitutional population, which consists of all people 16 or older who were not in the military or an institution such as a prison, mental hospital or nursing home.
