WASHINGTON — In her first visit to the Capitol since her shocking election loss, Hillary Clinton on Thursday called on Congress to address the “epidemic” of fake news that she said was a danger to the nation. Clinton was speaking at a ceremony to honor retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid when she diverted from her compliments to address “one threat in particular that should concern all Americans.” She called on Congress to stop the “epidemic of malicious fake news and false propaganda that flooded social media over the past year.” One such fake news story had Clinton running a child sex abuse ring out of a pizzeria in Washington, Comet Ping Pong. On Sunday, a 28-year-old North Carolina man, Edgar Welch, traveled to the pizzeria with an AR-15 rifle to “investigate” and fired off his weapon. No one was injured. “It’s now clear that so-called fake news can have real-world consequences,” Clinton said, though not mentioning that particular incident. “This isn’t about politics or partisanship,” she said. “Lives are at risk. Lives of ordinary people just trying to go about their days to do their jobs, contribute to their communities.” Social media sites like Facebook are now looking into labeling fake news stories as hoaxes. False stories were peddled throughout the election through the help a Russian propaganda campaign aimed at hurting Clinton, the Washington Post reported. “It’s a danger that must be addressed and addressed quickly,” Clinton continued. “Bipartisan legislation is making its way through Congress to boost the government’s response to foreign propaganda and Silicon Valley is starting to grapple with the challenge and threat of fake news.” At the start of the speech — her second public event since her defeat — Clinton quipped about the upcoming inauguration. “This is not exactly the speech at the Capitol I’d hoped to be giving after the election, but after a few weeks of taking selfies in the woods, I thought it would be a good idea to come out.” Poster Comment: Gatlin warned us about this, so it must be true? When Gatlin warns about something….it is definitely true. The old credo imparted upon new reporters of “trust but verify” is no longer the norm. The impetus that once was on a cub reporter to provide hard evidence and authoritative confirmation of a story before publishing, a high bar set for journalist, is no longer there. Fake news sites which spin innuendo, rumor and conspiracy into digestible, shareable headlines, has negated that obligation. Not only is it bad that “fake journalist” write the “fake news” bullshit….the great danger is that now there are ignorant assholes who actually spread the “fake news” bullshit wherever they can for whatever agenda reason they have.

These websites do not check the sources or accuracy of the information being cited in the articles, therefore a chain of misinformation and lies ensues. The websites feed off each other republishing the story from a base source and each adding their own slant trying to make the story more shocking and more believable….passing off misinformation as truth to tens of thousands of people. Deckard, you know all of these websites and you continually posts outlandish and simply wrong statements that are attempted to be passed off as truth, however….knowing basically that many are outright lies. Deckard, you are an enabler for those websites to continue to spread lies for your own warped agenda while those websites profit from traffic driven by the fearmongering sensationalism.

These websites are unfortunately very popular among those less informed individuals and those individuals who spread the fake news articles and yellow journalism articles for their own person destructive reason. A big problem that you capitalize on is that most people do not look into what they read well enough to be able to tell which websites fact-check well, and which are extremely bad sources.
