He thanked her for the meeting. That was all I heard. I wish people would do their own research rather than hoping others will stroke their foreheads and tell them that everything is going to be all right.
You just can't make this s**t up. We did? I don't recall electing Ivanka Trump as President. Do you have children, buckeroo? Do you have a daughter? If you do, do your children think exactly as you do? Do they agree with everything you agree with, and oppose everything you oppose? Ivanka Trump is her own woman. She has views, and her views are her own. Father is not daughter, and daughter is not father. That said, what she said to Gore seems gracious and vague: having a climate change policy that makes sense, makes sense to me. She gave Gore comfort without saying anything. We're not fucked because Ivanka Trump is a gracious and reasonable woman with her own ideas. You hate Trump. You'll continue to hate Trump. Things you believe in were defeated, and you hate Trump's tone, character, personality. So you're going to blare for the next eight years that everything Trumpish is wrong, and that everybody who supported Trump must be a disappointed idiot. Actually, we're reasonable people who want things to be better. We're not all a bunch of rigid ideologues who are expecting to get anything like perfection on everything we want. What we see so far, we mostly like. Ivanka Trump letting Gore know that we're not going to be revoking all environmental regulation and pouring mercury into the waters again is a good thing, because a calm Al Gore is an Al Gore who will be telling his own people to be calm. We're not going to revoke the Clean Air Act. We're going to be REASONABLE. That's all that most of us who voted for Trump want: things to be REASONABLE again, for American companies to provide jobs to Americans again. We don't accept the argument that, to have American businesses, we have to let them burn everything down and pollute at will. No, we expect them to do business AND respect reasonable environmental regulation. And we're willing to use sovereignty to prohibit companies that won't play by those rules from having access to the American market. That's the truth. We're not feeling betrayed because Ivanka Trump was polite to Al Gore.

No one here "hates" Trump. We just don't trust him. We just don't trust him. You don't hate Trump, but some here do. The notion in the original post to which I was responding, was that those of us who voted for Trump are "fucked" because Ivanka Trump said something polite to Al Gore. That we're "fucked" over such a trivial thing is over the top.

Algore loses! Let the energy flow... Looks like Trump may have done something good. Looks to me like Trump talks to everybody - far left, far right, center, special interests, general interests. He weighs it all in light of what he thinks is best, and then makes a choice. We've gotten used to not hearing the other side. But Trump's a negotiator. He wants to hear the other side. Maybe there are good ideas over there. He's in charge, not the people who come talk to him.
