Documentarian Michael Moore made an unannounced visit to Trump Tower Saturday with a film crew in tow — hoping for a sit down with President-elect Donald Trump. Moore, a vocal critic of the real estate mogul, called Trump “illegitimate” as he walked around the lobby of the skyscraper with reporters, according to a pool report. The “Fahrenheit 9/11” director said Trump “does not have the vote of the people” because claimed victory in the electoral college but did not win the popular vote. The 62-year-old, who had predicted Trump’s victory, entered the gaudy lobby with a camera crew in tow and asked to see Trump. “I just thought I’d see if I could get into Trump Tower and ride the famous escalator,” Moore said. When he asked for a meeting with Trump, a Secret Service agent replied: “You’d have to check with his staff.” The Flint, Mich., native left a note. “Mr. Trump. I’m here. I want to talk to you,” he wrote before leaving the piece of paper with a doorman. The attempt at an audience with Trump was far from the first time that Moore has made Trump his business. Earlier this year, Moore released a film titled “Michael Moore in Trumpland,” a recording of a stage performance he’d recently written. Last December, Moore stood in front of Trump’s namesake high rise holding a sign declaring, “We are all Muslim,” in the wake of Trump’s controversial proposal to temporarily ban Muslim immigrants from entering the country. On Saturday, Moore streamed his stunt on Facebook. “We need to fight and do whatever we can to see that he does not take office on Jan. 20,” Moore said. “He is an illegitimate President.
