After the first debate, numerous videos surfaced alleging that Hillary was using some sort of teleprompter built into her podium to assist with answering questions or to offset whatever medical condition she's dealing with. The videos were largely dismissed as "cooky alt-right conspiracy theories" and didn't get much attention outside of those spheres.
But, when similar abnormalities surfaced on Hillary's podium in the third debate, combined with the fact that she spent an awkward amount of time during her answers peering down rather than at the camera, we grew a bit more curious.
With that said, here is a video analyzing the abnormalities from debate 1. Notice that around 18 seconds into this video one can very clearly see a light shut off on Hillary's podium even though there is no such light at Trump's podium.

It could be a reflection of a stage light that is shut off when the debate ended. That would explain why it wouldn't be seen on Trump's podium.
The guys cleaning up could have been taking drinking cups which they both certainly had available for the 90 minute debate. Comparing that video segment to whatever drinking cups they had would be good to do.
I think if Hillary were to have cheated in this way, she more likely would have done it with a portable receiving device on her person. That would be much less dangerous in terms of discovery than would be devices and objects attached to the podium, and some vid's seem to show a squarish device under her clothing on the lower part of her back.
If I recall, Hillary's podium was modified to accomodate her lower height. If there was a teleprompter inside, surely someone would have said something.
The candidates are allowed to take notes during the debates. They have people whose job is to clean everything up afterwards.
