Back in the late 80's and early 90's I was in a band called "Avant Garage". We started out as a cover band, playing bars and clubs in the Minneapolis area, starting out as "The Verselles". We went through several drummers and changed our focus to writing our own songs. Anyways, we recorded a demo tape in 1992 and a few days ago I was going through my cassette collection and discovered the tape. After recording it with Audacity and cleaning up some of the hiss, I put the entire album (10 songs) on SoundCloud. They styles range from power pop to garage, rock, alternative, rockabilly, yet there's a certain cohesion throughout the entire album. In my opinion, the best song of the bunch is "One and One" the last song on the album and a power-pop gem. "4 Barrels" is a hard-cranking rockabilly number, "Television" is a ditty about having "52 channels...and nothin' to watch". "I Got A Girl" is a pure slice of garage goodness, complete with 60's Farfisa organ. "Fannie Mae" is based on a character from "Whipping Star, a 1970 science fiction novel by Frank Herbert. "Plutonium Surfing" is an instrumental surf-rocker. We never became famous or anything - I suppose we had a pretty good following in Minneapolis back then, but I think the music still holds up today. Probably just a new RNC protection racket, fundraiser. Pay up and the attacks stop. I listened to this one first ... good stuff! A government strong enough to impose your standards is strong enough to ban them. Or a bring-it-on response to the Obama admin recent threat of cyber war.

In 2011, hacker collective Anonymous rose to fame with DDoS attacks that pale in comparison to today’s attack on Dyn. Instead of taking out an individual website for short periods of time, hackers were able to take down a major piece of the internet backbone for an entire morning—not once but twice. That’s huge.
Update 4:22 PM EST: Looks like this is probably going to get even worse before it gets any better. Dyn says they are being hit with a third wave of attacks. Dyn told CNBC the attack is “well planned and executed, coming from tens of millions IP addresses at same time.”
