There will be a lot of business men who have been in the same position as Dump but they are not going to tell you about it. If I were to hazard a guess, knowing tax law, he is a real estate investor. So he takes heavy depreciation allowances on all of the properties he owns. That generates a tax loss. He also probably contributes a lot to his private foundation (where he still controls the money). That generates a big tax loss. Because he's a big player, he can borrow lots of money. The interest on that money is tax deductible, as a cost, but the income it generates is offset by the depreciation allowance. Lots of games that can be played with the tax code. I believe he will have lost another $11 Billion on betting against BREXIT. To businessmen its just another day in the office. Win big means you will have lost big at times.
