CHELSEA, Manhattan — Multiple people were injured during an outdoor explosion in Chelsea Saturday night. The explosion happened around 8:30 p.m. at 135 23rd St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues. Sources say 26 people have minor injuries. The victims were taken to area hospitals. The FDNY is on the scene with the NYPD Counterterrorism Unit. The explosion comes after a pipe bomb exploded in Seaside Park, New Jersey near the Semper Five 5K Charity Run Route. The device was placed in a garbage can. You can read the rest of the story here.

An explosion rocked the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan and injured at least 25 people on Saturday, the New York City Fire Department said, prompting emergency personnel to swarm one of the most bustling areas of the city on a cool evening. A law enforcement source said an initial investigation suggested the explosion occurred in a dumpster but the cause was still undetermined. The head of the New York Police Department's special operations division said on Twitter that a "possible secondary device has been located" in the same general area. Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a late press conference that there was no evidence of a terror connection initially. He also noted that while a "very serious incident" had occurred with significant injuries, none were "likely to die." New York City fire department officials reported at least 15 people were injured, and further reports suggested most of those injuries were minor. --------------------------- Note: A possible secondary device was found.
