A 13-year-old boy has been shot dead by police after he pulled a BB gun from his waistband while being arrested. Police were called to a report of an armed robbery in Columbus where they attempted to arrest two of three suspects who had run into an alleyway. As officers attempted to take Tyree King into custody, he was shot multiple times after he pulled out the pellet gun. When they arrived on the scene, they said the victim told them that a group of people approached him and demanded money. The armed robbery victim said that one of them had a gun. Police said the officers saw three males matching the descriptions of the suspects and tried to speak with them, when two of the suspects fled on foot. In a statement today, a spokesman said: 'Officers followed the males to the alley and attempted to take them into custody when one suspect pulled a gun from his waistband. 'One officer shot and struck the suspect multiple times.' The suspect, later identified as 13-year-old Tyree King, was taken to a children's hospital, where he died. The male with King was identified, interviewed and released pending further investigation. Police said additional suspects were being sought. The officers and the other suspect were not injured. Police said upon further investigation it was determined that King' gun was actually a BB gun with an attached laser sight. Police said the incident and the officers are under investigation. In December 2013 police said Keston Charles pointed a gun at officers in Brownsville and then fled the scene but it turned out the weapon was a BB gun. He was shot in the buttocks while fleeing and again in the side and chest after he had dropped the gun and raised his hands above his head. Although he survived, Charles was placed in an induced coma for three weeks.

Cut down early in a life of crime. Who knows how many lives were saved and the amount of misery spared society. Typical behavior though. A pack of feral youth forms and gives the gun to the juvenile, knowing if they're caught the "child" will be treated lightly. Unless he points it at the police.

Boys will be boys, I guess. But how or why parents let them run loose with bb or pellet guns is beyond me.
What parents?
Perhaps the gun was loaned to him by the two older gang bangers to use in the robbery. I'm guessing they told him it was real. Why else would he turn and pull the gun on the cops chasing him? A dumb move with a real gun. Suicidal with a pellet gun.

Parents, legal guardians, the state, whoever. Someone had a legal responsibility to care for that kid.
Why was he there in the first place? I'm okay with what happened in this situation. But what if he survived it and went on to bigger and better things? The federal government has spent trillions of dollars and created countless bureaucracies and bureaucrats just so this crap won't happen. I want my money back.
That will probably depend on the race of the cop. Which demonstrates the sorry state of race relations that I even type that sentence. But probably not. Using Cleveland as a guide, it appears that the penalty for shooting a black kid pointing a pellet gun at police is $6 million. Who said the little shit would never amount to anything?
He had just committed armed robbery. At 13. "But what if he survived it and went on to bigger and better things?" You mean what if he turned his life around and made something of himself? He had that opportunity. Always did. He rejected it. He turned to crime. He f**ked up. Where was mom and dad? Who were his friends? Who did he look up to?
Darwin Award? A government strong enough to impose your standards is strong enough to ban them. This day in age children(anyone) need to watch out about point a pistol like object at anyone especially police. But hey at least the parents can sue and get millions because the politicians are to afraid to say the truth. The officer will be hung out to dry, again, for doing their job of cleaning up the streets!
