Las Vegas, NV In America, if you are mentally challenged, you have a 1,600 percent higher chance of being killed by police. Because of this shocking truth, a Las Vegas mother has gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure cops dont kill her autistic son. She has spray painted her garage door with huge lettering that states, Autistic man lives here cops no excuse.
Judy McKim made the choice to label her home in such a manner after she says police nearly killed her son a few weeks prior during an interaction.
Although Judys son, Zachary is 28-years-old, he has the mentality of a toddler. If fact, her son still uses a pacifier and wears diapers.
I wanted to make sure that they knew everything. That he is still in diapers, doesnt understand words, doesnt understand what a gun is, said mother Judy McKim.
When a friend called 9-1-1 to report Zachary essentially throwing a temper tantrum, police showed up and tried to restrain him.
Hes autistic, he doesnt know what is happening. He doesnt know what police is, McKim said. He is in a diaper, along with the pacifier, and the cops are kneeling on my son and one of them reaches for his gun because Zach was fighting for his life.
According to KTNV, they reached out to the police department who claim the officers never touched Zachary. After the incident, Zachary was taken to the hospital for two days, but he faces no charges.
In spite of the uncomfortable press coverage, McKim hopes her story will help other autistic families.
I dont like doing this. Im embarrassed. Im embarrassed that everyone knows, Im embarrassed that Im on TV. Im embarrassed that you guys are seeing my life, but thats reality, McKim said.
According to KTNV, McKim adopted Zachary when he was only two days old and has been his caretaker ever since.
It scared me this bad, McKim said, referring to her house-turned-billboard.
Sadly, McKim has every reason in the world to be fearful of police killing her son.
As the Free Thought Project has pointed out in the past, the overwhelming majority of time spent by police during training is devoted to shooting their weapons. Almost no time is set aside for training in de-escalation tactics, and most departments receive zero training in dealing with the mentally ill.
In fact, a study by the Virginia-based Treatment Advocacy Center, an organization dedicated to eliminating the barriers faced by those with severe mental illnesses, released a jaw-dropping report titled, Overlooked in the Undercounted: The Role of Mental Illness in Fatal Law Enforcement Encounters. In the report, researchers discovered that people with an untreated mental illness are 16 times more likely to be killed during an interaction with police than anyone else.
According to the study, by all accounts official and unofficial a minimum of 1 in 4 fatal police encounters ends the life of an individual with severe mental illness.
Where official government data regarding police shootings and mental illness have been analyzed in one U.S. city and several other Western countries the findings indicate that mental health disorders are a factor in as many as 1 in 2 fatal law enforcement encounters.
"... a Las Vegas mother has gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure cops dont kill her autistic son."
Wait! Let me guess. She's going to watch her son, making sure he takes his medicine and does not go out in public unattended. That would solve 99% of the problem.
"When a friend called 9-1-1 to report Zachary essentially throwing a temper tantrum, police showed up and tried to restrain him."
Nope. 911 should say, "Tough shit. Our officers aren't trained in dealing with the mentally ill. We're trained to fight criminals. If we show up, you might sue us. Call the mental hospital to deal with your raging 28-year-old."
"You mean to say, not serve the publick but to act as a military force against perceived enemies?"
They serve the public by fighting criminals, not by babysitting rampaging 28- year-olds.
The theory being that people should be able look after their own. If this woman can no longer handle her son, she needs to look at other options - - not the police.
Police just will not serve that house. So no need to call police if you live in that house. Now the problem will be what about your neighbors? If they call police and your man-child comes out acting crazy what happens then?
This is one of those damned if you do and damned if you don't situations!
"Now the problem will be what about your neighbors?"
They get together and file a civil suit, claiming that the woman is no longer capable of handling her out-of-control son, thereby posing a danger to the neighborhood. Her son is HER responsibility. Why get the police involved? After all, they're not trained in handling mental cases.
Adam Lanza had some kind of brain damage drug problem
Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old shooter who killed 20 students and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14 in Newtown, Connecticut, had been prescribed several psychiatric drugs, including Fanapt, a controversial anti-psychotic medicine, the Business Insider reported. Fanapt is one of a many drugs the FDA pumped out with an ability to exact the opposite desired effect on people: that is, you know, inducing rather than inhibiting psychosis and aggressive behavior, Business Insider reported.
******
In fact you'll find that nearly all of the mass shooters were taking prescribed psychotropic drugs.

Man Calls 911 to Report His Wife Being Robbed, Cops Show Up and Shoot Him Robber Gets Away
According to Taylor, after they called 9-1-1, the womans husband, who has been identified as 48-year-old Carl Williams, went outside the home with a gun.
Nope. 911 should say, "Tough shit. Our officers aren't trained in dealing with the mentally ill. We're trained to fight criminals. If we show up, you might sue us. Call the mental hospital to deal with your raging 28-year-old."
Lol.
Stupid ass. Calling 911 doesn't mean it's always a police emergency.
Almost no time is set aside for training in de-escalation tactics, and most departments receive zero training in dealing with the mentally ill.
Here's my proposal: provide that training; deduct 150% of its cost from the budget for "social services" leeching; and refund the difference to the taxpayers. That way, everyone wins who deserves to win.
A government strong enough to impose your standards is strong enough to ban them.
Why don't we train them to fight fires, too? Why call the fire department AND the police department to a fire? Think of the money we could save.
The difference is that we usually know whether or not there's a fire, whereas it can often be difficult to tell if someone acting badly is a criminal or a loony.
A government strong enough to impose your standards is strong enough to ban them.
Since the call came in as a 911 emergency, they responded to an emergency. Because the out of control 28-year-old was a retard doesn't change the fact he was out of control. His own mother couldn't control him yet you expect uniformed strangers to?
>>>>"Calling 911 doesn't mean it's always a police emergency." That's because assholes forget that 911 is EMERGENCY ONLY. ---Wile E White, Suuuper Genius
So, what non-emergency number do you dial if someone has a heart attack, Wiley?
It would be better if the 911 operator could. I'm on board with that;
The 911 operator makes the decision to either send the police, fire department or an ambulance. Or a combination. Certainly they can ask if the subject of the call is suffering from a mental condition.
I'd like to see the police reserved for criminals.

Hey retarded slug.
I never expect/expected shit from the police. My posts on this thread have pretty much strictly dealt with your being stupid. The fact that the cops were told that a 28 year old retard (sounds like your dad) was 'out of control', should have been their first clue it really wasn't an emergency, as dweebs like you would classify it. I mean, the guy was not running a illegal lemonade stand for crying out loud.
