The late gay rights leader Harvey Milk already has schools, streets and parks named in his honor. Soon, a U.S. Navy ship will join the list. A Navy official said Friday that Navy Secretary Ray Mabus notified Congress earlier this month that a new fleet of replenishment oilers being built in San Diego will be named for Milk and five other civil and human rights icons. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because a public announcement is expected in the near future. More than two decades before he became one of the first openly gay candidates elected to public office, Milk spent four years in the Navy, first as an enlisted man and then as an officer in San Diego. He was serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors when a former political colleague assassinated him and Mayor George Moscone at City Hall in 1978. The GLBT Historic Task Force of San Diego County and former U.S. Rep. Bob Filner wrote Mabus in 2012 to suggest Milk as a fitting subject for a ship name tribute. The news that Mabus had granted the request first was reported Thursday by U.S. Naval Institute News. The other ship name honorees include abolitionist Sojourner Truth, Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren, Robert F. Kennedy, suffragist Lucy Stone and Georgia Congressman John Lewis. In announcing that the first new oiler would bear Lewis' name, Mabus said in January "I name ships for people and places that represent our highest values, the things we cherish the most." Another public relations victory for normalization and acceptance of the psychopathological counterculture. Will this nation ever regain enough courage and sanity to stop selling serious mental illness as a normal lifestyle to be embraced.
Only when we return the basis of our belief system to God created the world and Jesus came to redeem us. Right now it is evolution and we are nothing but an accident. Destroy evolution dogma and we will make a comeback. It will take a long time.
Dan White went to City Hall to assassinate the mayor to settle a grudge. On the way to the mayor's office, Harvey Milk emerged from his office and was shot and killed. Harvey Milk wasn't "assassinated". And he certainly wasn't killed because he was gay. He simply got in the way.
I guess someday we will have a ship named after a transgender person. Like Bradley Manning. We can nickname her Chelsea. Then one day we can have the first pedophile ship. Call it the little tyke. What a world we live in. You can not say the word Jesus or God but you can do and say pretty much everything else. I sure hope all those Obama supporters are really proud of what they have done. Obama keeps adding of the badges of incompetence making it impossible for another president to touch worst president ever.

Yep. There is no end in sight. Sad fact the history books will cover up his incompetency and make him the cool president. He should be called the first affirmative action president. Proving again affirmative actions doesn't work and only harms! Hillary could be the seconded affirmative action president. We could have the most incompetent president in history backed up by the most corrupt president in history! Way to go Amerika! I think that one of the reason why Obama has been reluctant to push hard for mass illegal immigration is because he knows it will hurt the black community the most. So he will let Clinton's do it instead. That way the conservative libertarian voters will never see the presidency again. Which means no more justices, more taxes aimed at white people until they collapse the tax base. Which will send us into chaos and third world status.
