JOSEPH, Mich. (WOOD) Three people have been fatally shot and one injured in a shooting at the Berrien County Courthouse in Southwest Michigan, according to a county commissioner. The commissioner confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 that two of the victims are courthouse employees and the other fatality, an inmate who was in custody at the time of the shooting, was the shooter.
The severity of the surviving victims injuries is unknown.
The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. at the courthouse, which is located on Port Street in St. Joseph.
The courthouse is still on lockdown, but the scene is secure, the commissioner confirmed.
An apparent witness posted video outside the courthouse earlier Monday afternoon to Facebook Live, showing a heavy police presence.
