Are they vermin because they might be native americans? if they take welfare it is because the society they have come too is a little more enlightened than the society of earlier centuries. that society has recognised that poverty doesn't advantage the country, but if you are worried, turn off teh tap and give welfare to noone
You took my remark out of context, I was saying that if you weren't open hearted enough to give one group welfare, so, no actually it isn't, what you wind up with is millions of destitute people and much crime as it used to be in earlier centuries. We have to stop looking at problems in isolation but view society as a whole, people are driven to migration by poverty, by hunger, by war. If you want to stop them coming you have to change circumstances in their countries. Don't tell me you give aid, because what you give is paultry and tied so that the benefits flow back to your own, you promise much and deliver little. Too much of the "let them eat cake" attitude
Our nation has enormous problems. Being swamped by an enormous amount of illegal immigrants is contributing to those enormous problems. This is not 1800. The life boat can only hold so many. Over fill it, and EVERY ONE dies. Good intentions can only go so far before they are suicidal. You may not like it, but that is a fact.

Look charge for cheese if you want to, but understand there is a reason why it happens and will continue to happen. You can build a wall, you can deport people but until you change the conditions in the home countries the tide will continue to flow. You are reaping the result of the expansionary policies of the past, withdraw to the Mississippi River, that should keep you safe for a while

I will agree we should not interfere in other countries. We have done way too much of that. I believe we should follow the advice of George Washington " beware of foreign entanglements ". We should trade with and have good relations with other countries, maintain a very strong military. If they attack us, then make them regret it. But if they have problems in their country, let them clean it up.
To stop the massive inflow from foreign countries, we need to "build the wall". Also, we SHOULD NOT be giving out welfare benefits here to who ever shows up. To do so is like laying out piles of cheese in the hood. It attracts the rats.
