John McCain has served five terms in the U.S. Senate, been elected his party's 2008 presidential nominee and is arguably one of the most prominent lawmakers in the Republican party.

But in his own words, he's facing the "race of his life" this year to get reelected--and in large part, that is because of Donald Trump.

There is hope ...

New poll from Public Policy Polling details McCain's predicament. Just 34% of Arizona voters approve of his job performance, with 52% disapproving and 14% not sure. Among Republicans, his job performance is only a little better.

There is no hope in contemporary American politics and as a result, there is no confidence in American governance.

Your fatalistic attitude takes the view that all actions are caused by forces beyond your control and if you are placed in situations beyond your control, then you are not free to choose how to respond or act. Is this your attitude involving your entire outlook on life, or only with politics?

Thanks

It is the monument No Vietnam made to honor John McCain.

Get the book by Admiral Jeremiah Denton see what he says about traitor mccain.

As I drive around the USA, I never see monuments to the British, to the Germans, to the Italians, the taliban or ISIS.

This is the monument at Truc Bach lake honoring John McCain.

Countries do not erect monuments to their enemies, only to those who are their heroes.

McCain has spent the last fifty years a a Viet Nam war celibrity. The first years as a buzzards up colonel entertaing dignitaries in Washington who wanted to say they had met him. After retiring from the service with pay, he futzed around as a subversive U. S. Senator for many years. After graduation from the Naval Academy near the bottom of his class, he should have been put to work in a navy gally in charge of making mashed potatos. In stead, since his father and grandfather were Admirals, he was placed in a series of airplane cockpits, some of which he destroyed.

Now the poor dear helpless boy is fighting for his life against Trump. Let's all feel sorry for him.

You shouldn't treat a war hero like that. All who fought in Vietnam are war heros worthy of respect. Mccain is unlucky his war record didn't earn him a presidency

No way. I will be glad when he is setting in a nursing home, dribbling on himself.

I have no desire to defend McCain or his policies today, but to be fair:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tr%C3%BAc_B%E1%BA%A1ch_Lake

This note on wikipedia claims it is a monument at the location where McCain was shot down. It seems to claim it is not a commemoration of McCain, but rather a commemoration of their capture of him.

Unusual to be sure, but seems the intent in constructing it was not intended to honor McCain in any way. (Though drawing attention to people and things does have that unintended effect sometimes).

You are kidding I hope. Read Admiral Jeremiah Denton's book, mcCain was and is a traitor.

Had his father and his grandfather not been admirals he would have been court martial-ed.

Had he not gotten his O6 automatically for time served as a POW, had he needed, like all other O6 had to go to Congress he would have been jailed.

He never got a star because for that he would have had to go before Congress. And even in the sick perverted world of Congress, what he did would have gotten him destroyed.

I don't mind being questioned, but, for heavens sake fo a little research on traitor mccain first.

The womb, the most dangerous place on earth.

Please read my comment again.

I only commented about the nature of the monument according to what is described in wikipedia. Nothing else. I made no comment about McCain's activities while in captivity.

My goal was simply to be accurate about whether or not the monument was intended to honor McCain, and it appears from the info on wikipedia that it was not.
