Title: Coward Cop Shoots Woman Walking With Knife, Ignoring Innocent Woman Behind Her

Greensboro, NC – The family of Chieu Di Thi Vo is challenging the Greensboro police department’s assertion that officer Tim Bloch’s fatal shooting of Vo was justified. For two years, the city refused to release bodycam footage of the shooting, but the shocking video has now been made public.

The entire video lasts less than a minute, and less than 10 seconds passes from the time Bloch made initial contact to the fifth and final shot. Vo died in the hospital two days later.

Vo, who was 47 and had bipolar disorder, was carrying a large knife and reportedly chasing her mother around the Aberdeen Townhomes complex. A witness had called 911 to report the incident.

The video shows Vo walking down the path in the vicinity of Bloch, but as family attorney Tin Nguyen points out, she was not lunging toward him or even going in his direction. She seemed unaware of Bloch’s presence,

“We saw she had a knife, but she wasn’t lunging,” said Nguyen. “She was a good distance away, maybe 10 feet, not even moving in his direction. She was following a path. He didn’t seem to register to her. She didn’t look up”

Officer Bloch can be heard yelling “Put it down!” and almost immediately begins firing. There is a person standing directly behind Vo—most likely her mother—who amazingly did not get hit by a stray bullet.

Even though Vo was carrying a knife, the swift use of deadly force is questionable. She was not coming directly at Bloch and no one else was in immediate danger. Bloch could have easily backed up to allow more time to defuse the situation. And why wasn’t a Taser deployed first?

Bloch believes he did everything right, saying, “Wow, this is black and white.’ I couldn’t have done anything better.” He was cleared of wrongdoing by the Guilford County District Attorney. In fact, other cops have said the video should be used for training.

Contrast this with the way police in the UK have dealt with knife-wielding suspects who were much stronger and more agile than Vo, or the Ohio cop who amazingly did not kill a disturbed man with a knife. But far too often, American cops have a reputation for resorting to deadly force, especially with the mentally ill.

“An encounter that short seems like injustice,” said Nguyen. “Greensboro has a policy on how to deal with the mentally ill that they did not follow.”

“She was a good distance away, maybe 10 feet ..."

For someone with a knife, that's a bad distance away. 21 feet is a good distance away. 40 feet is even better.

"And why wasn’t a Taser deployed first?"

Because the officer didn't want to die.

Looks to me like the cop was in no danger of being killed, let alone being attacked. She didn't lunge at him or make any aggressive move towards him. She was walking down the street, and in fact looked to be unaware of the "hero's" presence.

He must have given her all of two seconds to comply with his order to drop the knife before he killed her.

But hey - what's the point arguing with the "cops are gods and can do no wrong" cabal?

They'll find a way to defend this cold blooded murder because the cop claimed he "feared for his life". The magic words that will exonerate any cop who indiscriminately kills a citizen who is absolutely no threat.

You looking at a video in the comfort and safety of your home and a cop looking at a maniac 10 feet from him with a knife is her hand who had just been chasing her mother with the knife … are two entirely different aspects.
Sergeant Dennis Tueller, of the Salt Lake City, Utah Police Department wondered how quickly an attacker with a knife could cover 21 feet (6.4 m), so he timed volunteers as they raced to stab the target. He determined that it could be done in 1.5 seconds.
How long would it take her to turn and charge the cop? According to the Tueller test, exactly .75 seconds. The .75 seconds does not leave sufficient reaction time to stop her. He yelled at her to drop the knife, and she did not. Her mother was there within a few feet of her, as were probably others.
He must have given her all of two seconds to comply with his order to drop the knife before he killed her. But hey - what's the point arguing with the "cops are gods and can do no wrong" cabal?
He gave her two seconds while she would have given him .75 seconds. Where is the parity in that from the cop-hating cabal?

They’ll investigate to see if he followed published procedures. If he did not, then punishment will be administered. If they find it was cold blooded murder, then they will bring him to trial, find him guilty and punish him to the full extent of the law. You are aware that cops have been tried and convicted of murder … right? They have before, and they will be again … whenever there is sufficient evidence to prosecute them.
The magic words that will exonerate any cop who indiscriminately kills a citizen who is absolutely no threat.
Sorry to shock you, sport … but sitting there in the comfort of your home watching a video doesn’t give you the qualification or right to decide that Vo was no threat to the cop or others close by. Furthermore, “magic words” do not exonerate a cop of anything. A trial by jury of his peers, or a decision by a judge, can only do that. It’s the American way … God Bless America.

Yes,they will. The city will want to find justification so they don't have to pay out millions in a wrongful death suit.

If he did not, then punishment will be administered. If they find it was cold blooded murder, then they will bring him to trial, find him guilty and punish him to the full extent of the law.

ROFLMAO! Good one!

At MOST they will fire him and give him a letter of recommendation so he can get another cop job somewhere else.

ROFLMAO!

Obviously that is just a nervous laugh by you, Pete, to cover up your ignorance.

Police Officers are tried and convicted when there is sufficient evidence presented to charge and convict them. That is the American way.

For you and any other non-believer, here are just a few of the cases I quickly looked up:

Officer Jason Blackwelder had evidence presented against him that he shot a perp in the back of the head. Blackwelder was charged by a grand jury for manslaughter and making false statements. He was convicted in a jury trial.

A South Carolina police officer has been charged with murder after a video of shooting a black man running away from him became public - months after previous cases of police killings.

In Baltimore, Police Officer Tommy Sanders was indicted for voluntary manslaughter while on duty when he shot and killed Edward Lamont Hunt.

More recently, two police officers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, have been charged with first degree murder after shooting a homeless man in the hills behind the city as he appeared to surrender, and a policeman in Alabama faces assault charges after shoving an Indian man to the ground, partially paralysing him.

Last September, Jonathan Ferrell, 24, a former college football player, was shot by Officer Randall Kerrick as he attempted to get help after being involved a car crash late at night in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As I stated, these are just some of the instances where police are arrested or charged for violent incidents related to their police work … there are more.

You have a problem, Pete. The problem you, Deckard, and all the other cop-hating assholes have is that you want to see EVERY officer brought to trial and convicted for EVERY police shooting.

Well, dickhead, I have some flash news for all of you … IT AIN”T GONNA HAPPEN YOUR WAY.

So, learn to live with it …
