I had the opportunity today to witness a historic event. I was at the Nutter Center in Dayton Ohio when John McCain announced his running mate to the world. He chose Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin. The place was packed. The crowd was enthusiastic. McCain was tied up in traffic on interstate 675 so he arrived a little late. There was rock music playing to warm up the crowd. When John Mccain came out the crowd gave him a very loud applause that lasted for about 5 minutes before he was able to speak. McCain spoke briefly before announcing that he had chosen a woman. He mentioned something about her being a union member, a mother, and some other things. The crowd grew enthusiastic as they knew it was a woman nominee. She came on the stage and was cheered. She gave a speech that was also well received. Here are some of the pics I captured today.

Sarah Palin Bump
So what ya think of the Palin pick? I haven't heard your perspective yet.
At first, I was sorta taken aback by the ballsiness McCain displayed. After far too long fearing McCain was gonna make his "out-of-the-box pick" by choosing a RAT like Lieberman, he actually made a choice no less dramatic than when Milquetoast Moderate Bush, Sr. selected Clarence Thomas to the SCOTUS, imho. This lady agrees with me far more than McCain ever will, but I think the first big bonus will be the inevitable "policy shift" the Maverick will undergo regarding accessing our oil reserves in ANWR. I've seen a few videos of Palin discussing the Energy Issue and she definitely knows her stuff regarding THAT particular issue. Plus, she's feisty and has developed a taste for--and record of--cutting wasteful Big Guv'ment spending. If JohnnieMac is serious about pursuing that as part of his agenda, he's displaying an ideology that Dubyuh was sorely missing. All in all, the more I find out about her, the more I like the pick, but she's about to go thru the most unpleasant anal exam the RAT-Media can stir up, so we can only hope that she's up to the task. There was a protest van outside
The line to get in was quite long. I also heard that after the Nutter Center filled up there was a Big Screen TV outside the building with about 4000 or 5000 people watching.
