Donald Trump says transgender people should be able to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate." On NBC's Today show Thursday morning, the GOP front-runner said he opposes North Carolina's "very strong" bathroom bill, which allows businesses to prohibit transgender people from doing just that.

think Trump is basically right that Paterno got a bad rap. I think he's right to not care about the toilet hooplah.

He should be because this is just another example ;like homosexual marriage that is becoming a national issue ,and will be shoved down our throats by the unelected branch of government .

The Supreme Court has been GOP since 1969. Right now it's 50/50.

The next President will appoint 1, and as many as 4, justices to the Supreme Court. So, the next President will determine which party dominates the Supreme Court for the next quarter century.

We know what we'll get from Hillary. And Trump has told us that he will appoint justices like Scalia.

So, that's the choice.

supporting that pedophile football coach

I'll just say that Paterno wasn't a pedophile and was always a decent person. Now he did have the pedophile on his staff. I'm not sure what Paterno knew, but he had to have some idea what was going on. My guess is he was embarrassed by it and just didn't know how to deal with it.

Yes, I know. I apologize. I just expressed it that way, because it was easier. Still, he had the pedophile on his staff, and should have done something about it.

And Trump has told us that he will appoint justices like Scalia.

and of course you believe him .He said he has no problem with male transformers using the women's bathroom He again this week changed his position on abortion.

He also said he would appoint justices like his sister(Court of Appeals ,Third Circus)...He later said he was 'joking ' when he was confronted .

Justice Maryanne Trump Barry wrote an opinion about a NJ partial birth abortion law. She wrote that the law was a “desperate attempt” to undermine Roe v Wade ;that the law is "based on semantic machinations, irrational line- drawing, and an obvious attempt to inflame public opinion instead of logic or medical evidence.” (Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey v. Farmer)

Trump later lied during the debates and falsely claimed that Justice Alito signed concurred with her opinion in the case. He definitiely did not join Barry’s opinion. What he wrote was that the case was “unnecessary” and “obsolete” because SCOTUS had already ruled on partial birth abortions.

He again this week changed his position on abortion.

No he did not.

He has said for the past several years, as long as I have been paying attention to him as a politician, that he is pro-life, but he believes that there must be exceptions for the life of the mother, and for rape and incest. That has been Trump's consistent position all along.

It is not the Republican Party's position. This week, with Trump's win in New York, he made it clear that HIS position will be what it has been: pro- life with life, rape and incest exceptions. He made it clear that that is what he is going to be advocating, and he said that the Republican platform will need to be adjusted to fit that.

He staked out this position long ago, and he is not going to change his mind. He's not going to be pressured into changing his mind.

So, President Trump will take that position in his acts, and in his appointments, and in his speeches, and if Republicans don't agree, at least they will know where he is coming from.

If Republicans choose not to vote for him because of his three principled exceptions regarding abortion (only one of which I personally agree with, by the way), then they can withhold their vote. If enough do so, Trump may be defeated by Hillary Clinton, who will then proceed to fill the Supreme Court with liberal Democrats, and abortion on demand, paid for by all, with no religious exemption for religious institutions, will be the law of the land, per the US Supreme Court.

And that will be that.

Trump has been up front all along about his position. I've known it from the beginning of the campaign because he's never hidden it. It isn't true that he "changed" his position.

I like Trump's position better than Hillary's.

That's all fine. You're certainly entitled to your view.

My view is similar: use the bathroom that was made for your plumbing. But if you don't, then you're a jerk. If you dress as Ru Paul, you're weird. And that's where I end it.

I never want to see the legislative process engaged to make rules on such petty things, or the police empowered to enforce people's opinions on such things. People who are jerks are jerks, like people who play with their boogers at stoplights. I don't want to see it, but I don't want to empower lawmakers and law enforcement to address such things.

I think where we differ is that you seem to think that he was wrong to not report his suspicions to law enforcement.

I would say that depends completely on the depth of his suspicions.

I consider law enforcement to be corrupt and often criminal, and I reject any notion that one ever has a DUTY to go to law enforcement to report things.

If Paterno did not particularly suspect the coach of anything egregious, because he was focused on other things, I do not believe that he should be held "accountable" for anything - he did nothing wrong.

So, I agree with Trump: restore the statue.

If he suspected anything, then he would have been wrong to not do so.

Remember, these were young children, they & their parents apparently had faith that they would be safe. They were not.

" I reject any notion that one ever has a DUTY to go to law enforcement to report things. " ??? WTH ? I agreed with you, then you change your position ? Fine, and how would you react if the father of one of those young boys had taken the law into his own hands, and reacted as a Knight Templar, and dealt with that coach himself ? If my son had been one of those boys, that would be the end of that coach.

We will just have to agree to disagree counselor. To me, it appears you are simply trying to rationalize. This is not a court room. It may work in your mind, but not mine!

This went on under the oversight of Paterno. This happened on Penn State facilities. He could definitely have used his considerable influence to oust this guy.

All that said, I really don't blame Paterno too much. He was in an impossible situation that he had no desire to be in. He just had no idea how to handle it.

Very shortly after all this came to light, Paterno died. I don't think that is a coincidence.

And I understand that foreign policy, and particular war policy, is THE biggest discretionary expense of government. The welfare state you support is what has bankrupted us.

More than the stupid wars.

The welfare state, from public schools through VA benefits, Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Insurance, are all necessary features of a modern industrial state. These expenditures are not bankrupting us - they are maintaining the socio-economic order. They're the baseline expenses to keep the country on the rails.

The wars and the empire are extravagantly wasteful. They are our margin of deficit. We could have done without Korea and Vietnam, Somalia and Bosnia. And given how we fought them, we would have been better off to have never gone into Iraq or Afghanistan. Had we not wasted those trillions, we would not have the national debt we have, the interest payments, and all of the knock on effects.

We would have invested our money at home, in our own people, and been able to have lower taxes. Social Security has been a necessity ever since Americans migrated en masse from the farm to the city. Money spent on it goes back into the economy and is respent by its recipients. It maintains their standards of living, while enhancing the liberty of both old people and their children, who would otherwise be far less free, because they would have to support them.

By contrast, a war that you use is just talking money (and lives) and burning them up for nothing. Some contractors get wealthy, but that wealth stays concentrated in a few hands. ] Since 1949, our investment in war has been sunken costs and loss, trillions and trillions worth.

Making peace with Russia, bringing home the forces, guarding our OWN borders (to keep non- Americans from swelling our welfare rolls) and getting jobs back here by putting better trade agreements in place. These are Trump's bread and butter, and they are exactly the prescription we need.

Trump has never promised to dismantle Social Security or Unemployment insurance, the VA or Medicare. He has proposed ways to make medical care less expensive, so that it's less of a burden on the budget, but he has never proposed, and would not support, simply cutting Medicare off.

Paterno is dead. Whatever justice there is for him to face, is being meted out by God.

You're ready to change the economic system of America in order to punish Trump for stating his opinion that Paterno's STATUE should be put back up. If enough people agree with you and follow you, then the statue will stay down, and we will be a socialist country within 8 years.

If Trump wins, the statue will probably stay down - it's some local authority in Pennsylvania that will decide that, not Trump. But we will have a regulated free-market capitalist system.

You have taken the boob bait for Bubbas hook line and sinker.

To me, it's a free speech issue. And I'll sacrifice capitalism to keep free speech too.

So, it looks like Hillary. I'll still have free speech under Hillary. And the statue will stay down, so you win too. So, there's the answer. We divide and fight, Hillary wins, and we end up better off.

I said that I would vote for Hillary Clinton if Trump is not the Republican nominee. I said that because the only way that Trump can be deprived of the nomination is by utterly corrupt Republicans stealing it through subterfuge.

If they do it, it is imperative that their corrupt party be annhilated and lose everything. Then they won't HAVE the power or wealth or anything left to protect, and then, from a new foundation, something better can be built.

Obviously if the Republicans come to their senses and Trump is the nominee, I vote for Trump and a straight Republican ticket, to give Trump a Congress that can do his bidding and get his program through.

Obviously if the Republicans come to their senses and Trump is the nominee, I vote for Trump and a straight Republican ticket, to give Trump a Congress that can do his bidding and get his program through.

Blah blah blah. You repeat yourself a lot and rationalize.

Destabilization. Think we are already deep into that phase.

Yep, Trump's failure will maybe lead to CRISIS and provide excuse for the usual police state antics used and enjoyed by the likes of the Soviet Communist thug propped up [temporarily] in Ukraine by Trump's campaign adviser on his previous gig.

Under Hillary or Bernie the Revolution would continue in soft mode.

The insurgency has been ongoing too.
At least Bush's "ownership society" mitigated that by giving folks a vested interest in preserving the economic facade.

Catholicism is the truth

LOL. Is that the manure your Jesuit predecessors pacified the natives of Paraguay with?

Quite the Marxist Jackwagon you and your "culture" are wobbling along on, Comrade. Who's gonna fix the wheels when they fall off in the mud?

Drumpf can't even explain why his Mortgage bidness FAILED, let alone demonstrate the skill required to micro-manage the global economy with his farcical sliding scales.

arrivederci

No, you are. "

Well counselor, you are entitled to have your opinion, even if you are wrong, which you in fact are!

Here's another anecdotal public restroom story, to bring us back on topic.

A mother escorted her 5 or 6 year old son to the men's room. I was on my way to the head and observed this. I told the mother that I'd watch/guard the door so she could go in with him. She thanked me and declined. So I went in and did my bidness.

End of story. Simple things have simple solutions.

So, what did she do? Did she take him in after you left, while you went in, or what?

She opened the men's room door for the boy and stood outside and waited.

Because of our Puritanical, Quaker society.

The kid did his bidness too, I forgot to mention.

This happened about a year ago. I just offered to help, at least I think I did.
