In the Cold War Communist affiliations such as hers would've prevented granting a security clearance required for a private in the army learn how to operate a radio - let alone pass the vetting required for the National Security briefings her Oligarchic husband will be attending. Trump doesn't have to "pass", when the people elect a President, the office of President, by nature of the office, is superior to and in command of the national security authority. The President has the power, of his office, to know the national secrets if he so chooses. He is the supreme originating authority. The military and the CIA work for him. He cannot sell national secrets, but he cannot be denied access to anything just because some underlings - and that means every single person in the national security establishment - doesn't like his politics. If the people elect a full-on Communist, then that full-on Communist has the right, of office, to access to everything. The people have, in effect, vetoed the national security establishment's rules, because the President commands the national security establishment. Put differently, the President might normally be denied a security clearance, but the office of President automatically trumps any rule that would deny him access to the information. If we elect a Communist Commander-in-Chief, then a Communist has our secrets. The CIA and NSA work for the President and cannot deny him access, by virtue of his office. That's just the way it is. The rules that apply to normal people do not apply to the Commander-in- Chief, by the fact that he is the Commander-in-Chief. There are people who think that national security trumps even the President. They are wrong, because the President is the final authority of what IS national security. The whole military and national security establishment may violently disagree with him, but they are his inferiors and must obey him, unless he orders them to do something illegal. And for them to refuse to give him the access to which his office entities him because they, the underlings, don't like his politics - THEY have done something illegal, and can be fully prosecuted or court-martialed for insubordination. Some general's or bureaucrat's idea of what national security is never trumps the President's. The official can resign, but if he disobeys, he can be punished.
