Trump is a salesman. He won't discuss "HOW" to,"Make America Great Again." Its all about his own fame.

I'm watching this right now. Interesting.

Everyone is a salesman. He is just a good one.

How is TRUMP a "good one?"

To take a million or millions and turn it into billions is not luck. It takes skill and hard work.

He sells his message in politics.

What do you dislike the most about Trump?

If you don't have a loud mouth you're not heard. You have to make yourself seen.

More details would be good.

He suggested the Penny plan to help balance the budget. It is pretty simple. Do you think that is a good idea?

I see him as a guy who is going to manage the "books" right and stop bleeding all this money.

Do you think there is any chance you are wrong about him and that he may achieve a great deal of good for the people of America?

Where are the details? Remember the classical cliche, "the devil is in the details."

Here's a big detail he has given often: end the Cold War with Russia, get the US out of paying for NATO, work with the Russians to wipe out ISIS militarily, and be even handed in negotiating a peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

Do those things, and defense costs will plummet, saving trillions, balancing the budget, and making everything else easier.

And Trump doesn't need Congress to do ANY of that: foreign policy is the purview of the President. He needs Congress to deploy troops, but he doesn't need Congress to order the troops home.

Good points.

Also,I think Trump will alter the course of trade to be more to the benefit of the USA, rather than to foreign nations. If anyone can alter that course, to get companies to move back to the US, it is Trump. If we do not have manufacturing industries, there is no way to build up the middle class, which is vital for the US to have a solid economy.

Amen! RLK's first principle of economics is: "What we use here we should produce here."

Yep. That was the real reason for the American Revolution.

Yep. What we use here, we should produce here. What we eat here, we should grow here.

Of course that means that we still have to import bananas and coffee and mangoes, no matter what. That's fine.

And of course people can "pay up" for foreign luxuries - the textile industry wasn't put out of business by Gucci and Hermes.

But mass-produced consumer goods - that employs masses of people. either here or in China. Free trade has shifted all of those jobs to China, to the detriiment of our people.

To the detriment of who? Assembly line workers? Yes, I agree.

But for the rest of America, the resulting lower prices are a real benefit.

So you think the government should favor rich people so they can buy cheap slave labor products cheeply. Then the working class gets replaced by foreigners. That isn't a country. That is an oligarchy.

For the people who you say benefit. I disagree. They have higher taxes and more welfare to pay for because of their greed.

NAFTA needs repealed. The economy worked better for Americans prior to NAFTA.

China doesn't only sell stuff to Walmart.

They make the components in all of our computers.

They make our TV sets.

If we got in a war with China we might be barefoot for a while.

They make all the apple products.

I think that if we paid a little more for stuff here and had more jobs for our people. That would be better.

"I think that if we paid a little more for stuff here and had more jobs for our people."

A little more, huh? Seattle is demanding that employers pay $15 an hour as a minimum wage.

Now let's add to that the cost of health care, paid time off, vacations, sick time, employer contribution to a 401k, and unemployment compensation.

Then there's the overhead for employee lawsuits -- discrimination, sexual harassment, injuries. Plus the cost of customer lawsuits and compliance with OSHA and EPA.

Oh, and crippling corporate taxes.

We'd be lucky if we only paid double.

" NAFTA needs repealed. The economy worked better for Americans prior to NAFTA. "

Amen to that !! Prior to NAFTA, the nation had thriving manufacturing base, with an abundence of good jobs, the nation had a thriving, strong middle class. The nation as a whole was strong & healthy.

NAFTA was pushed onto the US to enrich a few at the top, but more so to weaken the USA, and to more easily push us into the NWO !

To the detriment of who? Assembly line workers? Yes, I agree.

But for the rest of America, the resulting lower prices are a real benefit.

No, it's an illusory benefit.

Prices are lower, but huge numbers of people are out of work.

And that means higher crime, higher welfare payments, more disability and hospitalization and mental health issues, all on the government's dime, which means the people paying the lower prices end up paying for those lower prices in higher taxes.

And the effects of CRIME are not monetizable - you get your face slashed or your family member raped, and it can't be repaid.

So we respond with more, and More, and MORE cops. When everybody worked, there was a lot less crime: idle hands are the Devil's workshop.

The loss of a sense of security - which is a knock on effect of crime - which is a knock on effect of huge unemployment among poorer people who SHOULD have jobs if we made the stuff here - doesn't JUST result in higher taxes for cops and jails, but ALSO it creates the political pressure to confiscate guns.

And all of those people who WOULD work, but who have been reduced to the margins by offshoring the jobs, end up voting more and more left, which in turn massively increases taxes and regulation.

The price of cheap Chinese goods ends up being 10 times whatever is saved by them.

AND then we have to also deal with Chinese aircraft carriers and artficial islands, and Arab terrorism, and every other goddamned security threat because, out of blind, petty, personal greed we built up the economies of foreigners who hate us, giving THEIR evil leaders options and the money to exercise them, while fucking over our own.

The cost of free trade is the degradation of the whole country, even for the people who pay the cheaper prices.

That's the problem with mediocre middle class free-market economic thinking: it actually believes the myth that everything is driven by money, so if you get the economic incentives right, every good thing flows.

It's dumb, and by now you'd think that folks would wise up. But they don't. If you impoverish you own people by the millions to save a few pennies for others, you end up with what we've got, and it just gets worse.

Bismarck was right about free trade: it causes decay in the countries that practice it.

Unemployment is at 4.9%.

"which means the people paying the lower prices end up paying for those lower prices in higher taxes."

Have your taxes gone up in the last 10 years? Mine haven't. When was the last time Congress voted to increase income taxes? I can't remember.

I DO know I pay less for imports at Walmart. Your "higher taxes" are simply a fantasy.

I wonder. What percentage of those would take a 40-hour-per-week job if it was available? You act as though it would be 100%.
