Netflix has a lot of streaming content, but so do services like Hulu and HBO. The Pirate Bay has put them all to shame now with the combination of in-browser streaming technology combined with its usual disregard for copyright. TPB is the first major torrent tracker to support a new streaming plugin called Torrents-Time. After downloading, users can stream any video listed on the site. Torrents-Time is a separate project that is not directly affiliated with TPB. It has been integrated with a few smaller sites, and there’s a dedicated website for the service. It’s also (partially) open source and available on GitHub. The Pirate Bay has Torrents-Time links right next to the download link, labeled “Stream It! (Beta).” The installer for Torrents- Time will be served up automatically by the player popup if you don’t already have it installed. I think we’ve all been trained to feel apprehensive about installing an EXE like this, but there’s no direct evidence Torrents-Time is up to no good. Well, not that kind of no good. Use your best judgement. Once it’s installed, the in-browser Torrents-Time player should begin streaming the video. The creators like to say it works immediately, but it actually takes a minute or two to buffer. Torrents-Time is actually running a torrent client in the browser along with a video player using FFmpeg. It’s basically prioritizing the sections of data toward the beginning of the video and encoding it on the fly. The player also has support for playing to Google Cast devices and AirPlay. Because this is still running as a torrent behind the scenes, your IP address will be visible in the swarm. Torrents-Time warns you about this and conveniently enough, will sell you a VPN on a daily or monthly basis. I suppose this is the business model. If they make torrents feel more like regular streaming videos, Torrents-Time might do quite well at selling VPN subscriptions too.

Why do we need this information for cheap movies when our nation is about to elect Hillary?
For the same reason we'll need cheap booze?
Cheap booze gives most fine people a headache in the morning. So, "cheap" isn't a serious declaration as an opinion.
That's a pretty cool feature. I hadn't heard about this torrent/player yet. We have seen other torrent clients like uTorrent and Vuze offer enhanced versions. uTorrent Pro ($19.95/year) and Vuze Plus ($20.90/year, antivirus protection, streaming/transcoding, DVD burning) that also offer prioritizing torrent chunks in order so you can stream them as they download.

Well, torrenting is a way to share files. A "seeder" is the original uploader. They upload their torrent file to a server where others can find it. The "leechers" (downloaders) put the torrent file in their torrent client program (like uTorrent or Vuze). The client then contacts the seeder via the tracker (like a central switchboard to connect the seeders with the leechers). The client then starts requesting random blocks of data from the file and the seeder transmits those. Each leecher can share their chunks of data with any other leecher which means that the original seeder only has to transmit blocks of data to one other leecher and the leecher can then send them on. As a leacher completes the torrent, they then become seeders too. With this browser extension (and with pro versions of uTorrent and Vuze), they prioritize the blocks of data from the beginning of the file and try to send them all in order. That way, you can start streaming it after a minute or so instead of having to wait until the entire file is done before it can be played. With this browser extension, they included a software player based on public domain software (mplayer/ffmpeg) and this allows you to play the video in the web browser very quickly after you start downloading the torrent. They have entire torrent sites, like Pirate Bay. Sharing is considered virtuous. Some sites enforce certain limits that you must upload a certain amount to "pay" for what you download. Pirate Bay is a free site where sharing is encouraged but not required.
