New Jersey police are investigating a disturbing viral video that shows a boy punching an unsuspecting older man on the street - and trying to find the teens behind it.

The video, which was uploaded on Facebook and has appeared on multiple social media sites, shows a boy who looks to be a teenager walking toward the old man.

A girl can be heard off-screen screams 'Don't hit him!' while another boy behind the camera yells 'Knock him out, knock him out!'

The boy, who is significantly taller than the elderly man, briefly says something to him before he revs up his arm and punches the man right in the face.

It's so forceful the impact throws the man into the pavement and seems to knock him unconscious, with part of his body hanging off the sidewalk and into the street as the boy is seen walking away.

The video seems to be inspired by the 'knockout game', which has someone sucker punch an unsuspecting victim for their own amusement.

A string of attacks credited to the knockout game led to multiple deaths in 2013.

Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale said the department is currently looking into where and when the video was taped, as well as the identities of the perpetrators and victim.

‘Once that is determined we will take swift and decisive action as we will not tolerate that kind of behavior in our city,' he said in a filmed statement posted on the department's Facebook.

Speziale said the video, which has since been taken down from Facebook, was first brought to the police's attention by a media outlet that had come across it on social media, he told The Record.

The condition of the victim seen in the video is unknown.

I hope he's 18 so they can charge him with attempted first degree murder. That should put a stop to this bullshit.

If it doesn't, then prepare for a bunch of dead black teens, shot while attempting to play the knockout game.

A happy ending would be if the son, or relative of the victim, played the " blow out game ".

Sadly,this happened in New Jersey,where only the cops and other criminals carry guns.

What SHOULD have happened is the old guy should have been alert enough to have seen this coming,and when Gumbo went into his windup,he should have just shot him,and then turned and shot the punk screaming for the newly cooling meat to knock him out.

If the victim had been my dad, grandfather, uncle, etc, etc. That is what I would do. The people there should adopt the policy: If they take out one of ours, we take out 10 of theirs. Then, maybe they will go back to " midnight basketball ", etc, and start acting civilized for a change.

We older people should get some brass/lead "knuckles" and run around playing the "knock out game" with young punks as the targets just before they attack.

This sort of stupidity has spread around the world Utube and Facebook should have to take such videos down.

We have even had to implement severe legislation to stop the coward's punch killings

I don't think we need such things just introduce the young punks to a wall when the opportunity presents. That's what my scottish friends tell me is the way to deal with them, a quick push as you pass in the street.

The latest news is that the 16-year-old behind the camera turned himself in on Saturday and has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim.

The attorney for the 17-year-old who threw the punch said his client will turn himself in tomorrow.

Whoo-weee! He gots his own lawyer who is already dictating terms to the po-leece. Jess like them rich criminals doos.
