The term may have originally been applied to a harboring of people behind religious walls in an attempt to prevent their persecution. It does not mean that now in common usage. To: rlk (#3) Rik I disagree with your point of view, this act is very specific in regard to a particular situation and one of the clergy involved has stated he will go to prison if necessary. Euphemism it is not. James I may have abolished the practicality of sanctuary in the English speaking world but there are some who look to a higher law.
