The nutty self destructive world of the USA The point is there is a lot of self destructive behaviour at the moment and this is because we no longer believe in our institutions so we have to belive in charismatic leaders. The world has a sad historty of following charismatic leaders. The ancient world had them and so does this world, every generation they arise somewhere and we hope they don't all arise at once. Populist politics gets us nowhere it is hollow, promising everything and delivering nothing. I remember people telling me what a great man Obama is, he hasn't proven equal to the chase. yes Merkel has proven disasterous for Germany, but she has been there too long, I remember when it wasn't considered possible she could be elected. Now we have Trumpet, I call him that becuase that is all he has, and that is sad,
