
UPDATE, 7:44 PM EASTERN: The number of dead in the community school shooting in the northern Saskatchewan community of La Roche has been raised to at least five. The National Post reports that the remote Dene town of about 3,000 people on the eastern shore of Lac La Loche is in shock.
A school in northern Canada was on lockdown for a time after a school shooting reportedly left two dead and one in custody.

According to CTV News, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have the gunman in custody but not details about his identity have been released.
The BBC reports the Saskatchewan Aboriginal Chief told local media there are two people dead but police have refused to confirm that. The Independent reports that local media said two people had been killed and the shooter was in custody.
CTV News reports that the shooting lead not only to the lockdown of Dene High School, but of a nearby elementary school in La Roche as well.
