BIG step up for them... And for millions like them. Our new neighborhood (formerly small farms), was subdivided and hundreds of homes were built, most by do it yourselfers from their wartime savings..

From what my father told me, in Minnesota the depression wasn't that hopeless. My brothers were born in '31 and '33, I in '36, and while my father never had a 'good' job, we never lacked for anything essential.
But after the war, by golly, we were 'rich'! (I wish) ---
