TRINIDAD, Texas – After almost 15 years, what is believed to be the longest armed standoff in American history quietly came to a peaceful close Wednesday. "Being a peace officer, you do have some emotions — that you would like to see him brought before court and the case tried — but on the other hand, was it worth all that it might have cost to do that?" said Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt. John Joe Gray was arrested in 1999 for assaulting a state trooper during a traffic stop. Gray said it was his God-given right to carry the pistol he had that day, without a concealed handgun license. When the trooper tried to arrest him, Gray admits getting into a scuffle and biting him. Gray was eventually charged with assaulting a public servant. But he refused to return to court, and instead, armed himself at home. "If they come out after us, bring extra body bags. Since the felony charge in 1999, Gray has never left his 47-acres along the banks of the Trinity River between Tool and Trinidad, Texas. Instead, Gray, his children, grandchildren, and friends patrol their property with pistols and rifles and refuse to let strangers inside. But for some reason, no one notified the Henderson County Sheriff's Office or even the Gray family, until now. And it may take pressure off them," the sheriff said. “There's always been the potential for something bad happening.” Nutt said he didn't go get Gray because deputies could have died. "It wasn't worth it,” the sheriff said. “Joe Gray has been in prison out there himself, in my opinion, for 14 years." It was justice served, the sheriff suggested, in a felony case that never went to court. And for the first time this century, Joe Gray is free to leave his home.

In late 1999, Gray was in a car pulled over for speeding in nearby Anderson County. State troopers saw high-powered rifles and anti-government materials in the car, but Gray refused to get out. When the troopers tried to remove him from the car, he allegedly bit one trooper's hands and tried to grab his gun. After his arrest Gray showed up in court for a bail hearing, when Anderson County District Attorney Doug Lowe told the judge he feared Gray was a major threat because troopers found diagrams of plans to blow up a Dallas overpass. The family have been living behind a fence without running water and electricity, challenging authorities to arrest Gray for the third-degree felony warrant since that hearing. It is a sign of paranoia to tell the truth about how unsafe vaccinations are? Government ALL THE TIME overstates its case with a blaring headline. "Vaccinations equal annihilation" is just an eye grabber meant to make a point memorable and quickly.
The sheriff has a rare amount of common sense. The guy ended up serving more time that he would have served if he had gone to court and been convicted. Yeah,he was home the whole time instead of in prison,but how many of YOU would want to go 14 years or more not being able to visit friends,take vacations,go shopping,go out to eat dinner,etc,etc,etc? On top of that nobody got hurt. I call this one a win/win for common sense. Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012) American Indians had open borders. Look at how well that worked out for them.
