GOP presidential candidate and rounding error George Pataki has formally exited the race citing frustration over the rise and sustained lead of Donald Trump. Pataki, who had said previously he would stay in the race until a leader came who could unite the party, evidently has put that standard behind him, leading us to wonder who could win over his half-dozen supporters, a coveted electoral asset. Pataki hardly registered in polls, typically gaining 1% or more often, 0%. Using the typical polling margin of error of 3%, it almost seems reasonable to suggest he was really polling at -3%!
And poor Pataki, after I heard he formally withdrew from the race I still saw one of his ads! I wonder if he was just getting his money's worth or that ad was broadcast by mistake.
Now, let's hope for the New Year that all the GOP rounding errors end their bids!
