Title: Part of a Real AP Headline: 'Emissions Need To Drop Below Zero'

The detachment from reality of those who actually believe that the recent international climate agreement in Paris is anything but a dangerous and potentially expensive charade has become especially irritating.

The goals identified in Paris are obviously unachievable, and have no direct tie-in to reducing "global warming." Convincing evidence of the link between carbon dioxide generation and allegedly rising global temperatures doesn't exist. In light of this reality, someone really needs to ask the AP's Karl Ritter how much Kool-Aid he had to drink before he informed readers on Thursday morning that the "PARIS CLIMATE GOALS MEAN EMISSIONS NEED TO DROP BELOW ZERO" — and then attempted to take that goal seriously.

Ritter told readers about incredibly expensive, exotic, unproven and logistically burdensome methods world leaders might mandate to go about "removing more greenhouse gases from the atmosphere than humans put in it," involving getting rid of "about 50 billion tons (of "greenhouse gases) a year, mostly carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels for energy." They include "planting more forests, which absorb carbon dioxide naturally as they grow, and combining bioenergy with carbon capture technologies." Then as Ritter noted, "there's the issue of finding places to store the carbon dioxide once you've captured it." Yeah, we're supposed to bury huge volumes of CO2 under rocks.

Although he did acknowledge in an early paragraph.....

Imagine...... A world with no pollution.

A world where supermodels sexually molest gas station attendants.

A world were "Hilly WHO?" is a common expression.

A world where we are all equal in every respect, comrade.

A world where everybody has everything they will ever need and a bunch of stuff they didn't even know they needed, and it doesn't cost anybody anything.

A world were the northeast and north west of America isn't filled with idiots and crazy people.

A world where you can ride your unicorn to work as a million dollar a year taste tester at the pie factory if you don't feel like flapping your arms and flying yourself.

A world without envy,greed,hatred,or taxes.

A world where corrupt politicians are caught, convicted, and hanged in public.

I guess my skooling in the ghetto is a bit better than that of ivy league because we even learn you can't get below "ZERO" output!

we even learn

Perhaps you failed logic when you did all that learning, what is being suggested here is that we do more than offset our emissions by using strategies that will take carbon from the atmosphere, an admirable, if unobtainable, goal while ever we use fossil fuels. So streaching our imagination, what can we use carbon for and how can we extract it from carbon diooxide and methane? we already know about carbon fibres perhaps we can have a future of objects made of carbon instead of iron and aluminium.

Put your learning to use and be part of the solution not part of the problem by emitting carbon dioxide without producing anything

Its all gobbledygook.

I knew what they meant and what they really meant is for US(I would call us crazy but thats redundant) and any crazy western society to pay for cleaning the air everywhere. Which is Hilarius in my opinion.

I do believe in clean air but even natural clean air is not clean air. Nature can get pretty nasty!

All we can do is make products cleaner to run and produce. You can't make nature cleaner because its like pissing into a hurricane!

BTW Mother nature will do the work if we let her. Environmental wako's think they are better than mother nature and she keeps reminding them they are nothing more than a single grain of sand in a very large desert!

What is Hillarius is that you think that you don't have responsibility for removing all the carbon that you put in the atmosphere, I don't think anyone is asking you to do more than that, however because you are a consumer society who has succeeded in passing your emissiosn to low cost countries you have an obligation to remove the carbon dioxide produced by those industries too. This is a no brianer but because you think you have brains you can't work it out

I feel no responsibility to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Why would I?

Im sure China, Russia, Africa, ME and India are going to break their bank to do the same!

For one Mother nature will remove it for us so why enslave our children with debt and some ridiculous laws that will harm them and allow other countries to do as they please? This is the reason why progressives should never ever be elected because they can not think pass the slogan!

Im for cleaning up output. I want it to be fair and reasonable. To load western society down with the worlds problem is absolutely unacceptable!

This is what you fail to understand. Basically up until now, western society has constituted most if not all of the excess carbon dioxide with developing nations, etc adding little so you cannot say it is the world's problem, it is like saying I'll create a pile of garbage and ask the undeveloped nations to clean it up. That is a slave owner mentality so obvious in US republicanism where once it was obvious in US democratism. For too long the nations of western society have created beggars out of the rest of the world and there is one among them who bears a very high percentage of the responsibility

Hogwash.

Mother nature produced more crap than all humans combined! Not by a little but a large number. What happens is localized pollution wakes people up to pollution. When people locally realize they are polluting to much they normally do what all sane people do and fix their error.

BTW this has been the problem with progressive pushing man made global warming/cooling. Its about controlling the free world! Its about rich fat cats getting richer and more powerful because they could dupe easily led people with a few slogans!

Mother nature scoffs at you puny humans!

True that most emissions come from nature however we have added to the process by our rapid consumption of carbon based fuels, so the system was relatively "in balance" before we disturbered the equilibrium. Noone suggests we should try to offset nature, merely modify our behaviour.

We have to get a right perspective which is very lacking in most responses. Where we can use different technologies we should and progress these to avoid adding to the problem.

we have successful reversed our impact on the ozone layer and we can modify our behaviour to avoid some impacts and we should do this without destroying the very economies which can do this. Reforestation of amazon etc would be a start but we have to recognise that we may already be beyond the tipping point and start to look at what the future responses may need to be
